Re: Air Head Composting Toilet or Similar Mfg.

The big one-button big-flush head sounds like a good solution for a very large (extra weight and complexity no problem) craft that caters to the country club charter crowd. It is probably especially...

Re: Air Head Composting Toilet or Similar Mfg.

Oh, dear! What an extremely odd way to respond to a disgruntled customer... I hope Mr. Trott isn't suffering from some sort of poor health or neurological malfunction, because it seems otherwise...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

To my knowledge, no one has ever left my table hungry, and I am fairly certain that in many decades of feeding the multitude I haven't yet poisoned anybody. You may conclude thereby, that I offer...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

Hello! What a strange and hostile response! When I was a child, I was taught to eat what I took on my plate, to politely and quietly decline what I could not eat, and never ever to make an issue of...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

Oh, my! I am truly impressed at how accommodating some of you are, even to choosing your head to make the occasional delicate guest happy. Seriously! You're mighty nice. I won't be holding myself to...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

We like the little compressed bricks of coir. A year's supply fits in a shoebox. And as we have been installing pretty cypress tongue and groove paneling, we have quite a supply of pleasant smelling...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

It amuses me to see strong sailors brought to their knees by the very thought of having to wipe a toilet bowl. Heaven help 'em if they should ever have to change a baby's diaper, or clean up after a...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

Hmmm. Guess I could try again to address Minne's concerns, this time in English?
See paragraphs 2 and 3 above?
We have not experienced severe illness aboard our boat, and our experiences so far...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

Another too-long post vanished into the ether. sigh. I will try again. What was the question?
Oh, yes. the construction of the head is readily apparent on the C-Head.com website. Essentially, the...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

Weren't you paying attention? These heads stink IF you insist on peeing standing up, aiming at the big hole in the back of the bowl....duh! Here's your free clue: It is the urine that smells bad,...

Re: composting toilet-should we do it

We also have a C-Head, decided on it after a tedious amount of research on all sorts of waste treatment options, and so far, after over a year and a half, are quite pleased with it. It is compact,...

Re: Nature's Head or Airhead

I would encourage those who are interested in purchasing one of these units to direct detailed questions to the manufacturers. Don't be shy... They have doubtless heard it all, and they really want...

Re: Nature's Head or Airhead

I think a certain fundamental amount of "situational awareness" is useful, but we haven't found it to be a challenge to park properly. Sandy's wife even was thoughtful enough to reassure me before I...

Re: Nature's Head or Airhead

The C-head ventilation hose, installed as suggested, needs no fan in our boat to provide sufficient draft for proper drying.

Its compact construction required no carpentry or modification to fit...

Re: Nature's Head or Airhead

Whee, at this rate, I will soon be permitted to reply to PMs!

It sounds odd to be so absurdly pleased with a toilet, but I am ever so content with our C-Head. We have subjected it to fairly light...

Re: Any C-Head Users?

Dear Multihullgirl, I apologize for the public reply to a PM, but I still have not amassed sufficient posts to be permitted the privilege of a private reply to your nice note, and my lengthy reply...

Re: Air Head Composting Toilet or Similar Mfg.

Add us to the C-Head fan club. After a year, we find it entirely odor-free, very easy to maintain, and have had no cleaning or urine overflow problems. For men whose whole self-concept is tied to...

Re: composting toilet report

We installed a C-Head in our homemade boat last year, despite feminine misgivings as to esthetics, technique learning curve, and waste-handling workload, but we barged ahead, because dealing with...

Re: Any C-Head Users?

what a wonderful romp through random entries in your blog. You can't imagine how cheered I was to read of your satisfaction with the C-Head. Love the writing!! Thanks!

Re: Any C-Head Users?

Actually, the C-Head is not officially "installed." It is a portable toilet, and thus not subject to the strictures of installed heads. And what I do with the partially composted stuff is apparently...

Re: Any C-Head Users?

I haven't investigated it, to be honest, since I first hit the overhead about the high-handed way The Busybodies That Know What's Best For Us All snuck the bill through without a public comment...

Re: Any C-Head Users?

One more thought, to speak to the Original Poster's initial question, I haven't tried the Nature's Head or AirHead with trap doors, but this design, using the same basic concept, seems to work fine...

Re: Any C-Head Users?

Actually, if anybody had suggested to me that toilet paper would have to be handled in any form, post-use, I would have recoiled in disgust, too. It only occurred to me one day that that dried paper...

Re: Any C-Head Users?

With chopsticks dedicated to the purpose of course. By the time I get around to doing that, it is entirely dry and odorless, and if I didn't bother, it wouldn't matter at all. The bucket would just...

I regret that I am not qualified to reply to PMs on this august forum, due to insufficient numbers of posts. Please know then, Ms. T, that I am not ignoring you. The answer to your question is YES!...
