Re: Looking for 36-40', plus sized cockpit

I took our Pearson 35 and moved the aft traveler to a bridge traveler over the companionway. The 9' cockpit is now fully open and the mainsheets are away from my kids. The sheets on the bridge...

Re: Jellyfish west/rhode river?

The bay could use a few more angry curmudgeons that remember the old days. I'm not that old, but it's good to understand where we've been and where we're going.

Re: As long as the boat is out of the water . . .

I would think you really need an anti fouling paint on a freshwater lake. If you are down to Gelcoat algae can just we scrubbed when you haul or in the water. Others might have a different opinion.

Re: Bottom Paint Removal - Scraping or Chemical?

I'm thinking of soda blasting on my next winter haul out. Would there be any caveats to soda blasting in the Fall and then painting in the Spring?

Re: Before and After Photos - Show Us!

I hope he doesn't mind, but look at Tommays before and after I pulled off a different post. Good stuff

Re: Before and After Photos - Show Us!

I wish I had one distribution panel where everything was in one place ... including the battery selector. Mine are spread out across two different distribution panels, a selector under the galley...

Re: Before and After Photos - Show Us!

To keep this thread going ... I will offer one of my favorite, recent improvements ... installing a zippered stack-pack mainsail cover. I just had lazy jacks before, which are helpful, but the pack...

Re: Looking for small, affordable printer for on the boat

I've thought about a laser printer on the boat, but I think the salt air and the occasional high cabin heat (90+) would fry the unit.

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

So my wind reports are calling for 22mph NNW off of Gibson Island today. Is everyone else seeing the same?

Re: Best infant and kid lifejackets?

The best child vests have crotch straps to prevent them from riding upward above the head when in the water.

Re: Heavy Listing to PORT !

I'm confused where this is exactly? Can you post a pic? Is this the midship bilge? On my 1979 P35 I am able to access this right through the cabin floor hatches. Or are you saying it's ever further...

Re: Stainless/Teak swim platforms from China...

I don't think that it is fair to say that everything that is made in China is crap. Many of the things you think are made in the US are either made in or have parts from China. I have some 316...

Re: Handheld VHF range

I think that a 5w handheld standing near the waterline gets you 5-8 miles in good conditions. I understand a 25w with an antenna at the top of a 60' mast to be 15-30 miles.

Predicting Sea Nettles

This is a really interesting model that NOAA created for predicting sea nettles (the creatures that make my kids cry). Apparently it is all about the salinity of the water. Unfortunately, it does not...

Re: Before and After Photos - Show Us!

I'd really like to see your before pic because I am planning on tip and rolling my cabin top and deck. Was it that bad? What paint did you use?
