Re: Fuel Line Replacement

yes, as you change the lines you would introduce air in the system, so you would need to bleed it. Usually it's not too hard, just unscrew a bolt a little and crank the engine until you see fuel...

Re: Air in fuel system

Ok, some updates - no good one unfortunately.

I replaced the hoses, it didn't help much, the same issue is happening.
I did the bleeding every time I did something different. After trying the...

Re: Air in fuel system

No, my filter is encased, I changed the whole assembly. And I never unscrewed the bleed screw completely, just enough to bleed the system, so I don't think there was a chance for a washer to go...

Re: Air in fuel system

As I said it's 2.5 hours away and the store nearby might not have the hose that I need. I would prefer to buy it beforehand.
I tried to find the parts for the engine, but in the manual it is not...

Re: Air in fuel system

Anyway, can someone please say what type of fuel hose should I use and where do I find it?

The engine is Universal 5416 (and I think it's the same as Universal M20).

Re: Air in fuel system

well, one thing that is a good in this situation is that I only see air at the injector pump assembly bleeding nut, not at the fuel filter nut, so I suppose the air comes somewhere in between the...

Re: Air in fuel system

That makes sense and that what I thought might be happening. I checked the tightness and it's pretty tight. I didn't check for the gasket, but as far as I remember it had the rubber (or something...

Re: Air in fuel system

That's what I thought. Does anyone know what type of hose is this? My boat if pretty far from where I live, 2.5 hours drive, so it's hard to just go there and check :)

Air in fuel system

I have some problems with my engine - Universal 5416.
Here is what started happening - after I changed the fuel filter I didn't know that I need to bleed the fuel line and my engine stopped....

Re: Alternator for Universal 5416

I don't remember how exactly I measured, I looked in the book how it's done and did it this way. Now, that you mention it I remember something about the danger of disconnecting the batteries. I know...

Re: Alternator for Universal 5416

Well, the only thing I know is that I tested the voltage on the running engine and it was 0. Rebuilding the alternator might cost similar amount to a new one (and it's not that expensive - $180)....

Re: Alternator for Universal 5416

Ok, maybe a stupid question - how do I know if the boat can handle 90 amp? I have O'Day 30 if this helps. Not sure there was a lot of upgrades to electrical parts of it, but I can do some things if...

Alternator for Universal 5416

Looks like my alternator is not working - there was no output voltage, so I would need to replace or rebuild it.
I did some research and found several replacements, the older alternator is no longer...

Re: Port windows replacement

It wasn't leaking there, the leak was from the lens, the gasket cracked I think and it started leaking between the glass and the rubber that is around the glass.

Re: Port windows replacement

Ok, I unscrewed one of the ports, the cutout size is 7-1/2'' by 14-1/2''. I can't find the exact size, but I guess I can get bigger versions and cut a little bit.

So far on my list:

Bomar...

Re: Custom cut round plastic window for forward hatch

The best quote I got so far is $90 with a week lead time. There were actually only 3 replies from the dozen or so places I sent a request to, from 200 to 90 dollars quotes.

Re: Custom cut round plastic window for forward hatch

The one that was there got lost - my gf was cleaning and it looks like it wasn't held in place very well, so it got overboard.

I know it's not a good idea, but sometimes guests might step into it...

Re: Installing radio

I used different channels to do radio test - the sea tow, the local channel for pumping sewage (they should have heard me since they are really close, etc.) and they all didn't answer.

I don't...

STANDARD HORIZON GX1150 Eclipse DSC+

At first I just connected the black and red wires, then when it didn't work I also grounded the frame. Both didn't work.

Re: Installing radio

Is there something I can make and antenna? Also - how about grounding, is it very important? I connected the radio to the engine as a ground.

Installing radio

I am trying to install radio and while it seems like a simple task (just connect the power and the antenna) it doesn't seem to be transmitting.
I can hear people talking on different channels, but...
