Turn that frown upside down! Lets talk NEW engines!

I'm running common rails on the farm now, and one of the sedans. They are great motors. There's a lot less to go wrong on my crude 3HM35F, and no port for diagnostics. Long term we're sure to be...

Re: Bronze Oval Portlights

Has anyone ever had an accident on these ports? I've thought about wearing a helmet in a seaway, having at least one near miss with my head/face.

Re: Bronze Oval Portlights

They do look like the same design, mine is outfitted with ovals. They're very basic, but solid. These look like they have some thumbscrews or something for the screens, like you said, Bill.

Re: Pacific Seacraft 63' ketch nears completion

When you're good, it's hard to hide. The yard seems to have done a great job putting your plans into play, she's really nice. I would love to be in a fresh breeze in that center cockpit. Is that yard...

Re: Are we in over our heads?

Just temper your expectations and take your time. Great if you make it to the Bahamas but maybe southwest Florida is fine too. Or SC or GA. Keep and open mind and learn as you go. This isnt forever....

Re: 1GM10 won't run over ~2500rpm

May be barnacles on yer prop. Don't take many to overload yer engine. When my boat sits I'm always underneath cleanin the prop before setting off. Clean every last one off....

Re: Crealock-34 head

That's great to hear so many stories of success rebuilding old K's. Mine gets intermittent use so I doubt that's very good for the seals.

I have a rebuild kit on board, I think I'll go ahead...

Re: Sheets for a PSC 34 V berth

Bill that's cool. Sounds comfortable. I'm ready for a nap after hearing all of the work you put into it though! That's a big project. My cushions have a couple of years left in them and all is...

Re: Plugged scupper hose

Mines plugged too, couldn't get it clear from topside last time, but was slowly draining. I gotta get that this week...Also port side.

Not crazy about the idea of running that crud though vac. I...

Re: Got the air bleed blues

It can start with an injector cracked. It just runs rough.

Re: Trade up/down feeler

Hi Muttskie, I just looked on Yacht World, and there are quite a few of the larger boats on the market, as others have suggested. Only a couple of the Dana's. Looks like a good opportunity to cash...

Re: Espar heat on 34

John, good luck with your project. I plan to install a D2 in my 34 at some point. I think I follow your install, with the unit mounted to port and exhausting near the engine exhaust. Just to...

Re: Noise from dockline passing thru Hawse Pipe

I've got the bulkhead mounted table and I LOVE it. I find it incredibly easy to stow, and so does my wife. I don't use the dowels, never a prob, but have been meaning to add some anyway and see. ...

Re: Passengers, crew member injured in North Carolina ferry accident

Ouch. He was pretty well set up to reach into the inlet. Wonder what he was doing off hatteras - going south, right????

What in the world, with the ferry, too?

Re: Noise from dockline passing thru Hawse Pipe

Dude you're not alone. I'm never tied to the dock, but it happens at anchor and mooring in any wind and it does make a lot of noise in the V-berth. It hasn't bothered me enough to take action - yet...

Cabo Rico vs Island Packet vs Baba

Get the boat that you really like. Especially if its a Cabo Rico. The IP's are practical and the right ones resell. Maybe your wife can join you at destinations and if that's appealing, a boat with...

Re: Trying to streamline storage and dishwashing

Good question Bill. I do not think it mates with the top of the stove grate (although my memory says it might), and I don't think it serves any function for storage. Been too preoccupied with other...

Re: Trying to streamline storage and dishwashing

So I have noticed there is a lot of space behind the pull down dish cabinet, but you have to remove the hinges to pull it, so I'm not sure that is practical storage as-is. Lomg term items maybe. The...

Re: Cape Dory 25 - Project boat

Without knowing real condition, hard to say, but I think you passed it by? $900 for a decent cape dory that needs little stuff is not bad, but storage can be a killer. Sweat equity is cheap, and...
