Re: Chucking my propane stove, what to replace it with

Mostly because Japan doesn't have many natural gas pipeline options, and it seldom gets much below freezing, even in Hokkaido, below the mountains. A big kerosene space heater is pretty much all most...

Re: What to do what to do :)

*grin* I spent 44 hours of the past weekend in an Amtrak roomette. Even a V-berth sounds roomy in comparison to a 3' by 6' space that sleeps 2... And yes, the upper bunk's got a lee-cloth.

Re: Home made ice cream!

If you're headed to the other side, a friend owns an ice cream bar in Punta Uva, CR.

Re: sailed once with my uncle

That's the ballpark I was thinking as well. As a project with the resources to hire some labor, that's a million-dollar yacht AFTER you put about $600,000 into it. A couple hours per evening...

Re: Is the Newport 27' a suitable liveaboard for a small family?

It's very nice for a $20 bottle of rum... yes.. Which reminds me, it's time to update the ... provisioning list. That's almost topical.

Re: Boat Sitting - Is it really an outrageous proposition?

Zactly. It's technical, but if you're familiar with the field, it makes sense or at least is known that it could make sense once you have all the terms straight. If you're not and you don't know...

Re: newbie

Not me. Shoes go in the locker. I hate scuffed decks.

Re: Boat Sitting - Is it really an outrageous proposition?

There is a lot of technicality, and it's a field that fewer people are causally involved with anymore. Here it's "How much chain are you using with that Rancor?" and someplace else it's "I'm hopping...

Re: Is the Newport 27' a suitable liveaboard for a small family?

Hey, I resemble that remark!

No shoes, but the last of a bottle of 7-year-old Angostura rum...

Re: Is the Newport 27' a suitable liveaboard for a small family?

Didn't find anything in my digging, beyond that the charges got dropped. I remember that the adults refused a lift off the boat when the kids were taken. Maybe they didn't wanna get salvaged......

Re: Crushed Cans

Usually they don't have to transport it far. Bottling plants are all over the place, and use local water supplies to provide the raw material. And just because it says "Coca-Cola" on the sign doesn't...

Re: Is the Newport 27' a suitable liveaboard for a small family?

It wasn't just "living on a boat"; it was two teens living on a 28' sailboat with three adults and two dogs, locked in February ice near Baltimore, with no power and only a space heater, and the...

Re: Liveaboard woman alone

One also starts sliding more leewards. Keels spill the same way sails do. Which can mean more sailing to do to get to where you were intending to go in the first place, or some far-out heading...

Re: wall sized TV, on a sailboat
