I have the Teflon seal packing, and it is almost as good as the dripless. (I don't have clearance for a proper dripless).

I'd suggest replacing the hose as others have said, and use new hose...

Replace the rubber hose of the stuffing box. Should be done every 8 years. I replaced mine last spring. Looked fine. Got it out and closer inspection revealed it was badly cracked.
