Re: Canvas Costs

Heres how we did it on the cheap. The local guys near the boat were giving quotes anywhere from $1500 to $2500 for just the spray dodger. I found a local guy near my home doing canvas on lake boats....

Re: Lets Talk Radar Mounts.

Looks like this is the way to go. Great idea of adding a hoist mount also, we need one. I do have access to scrap aluminum and a good fab shop. Time to go take some measurements.

Re: Fellow Four Eyes dealing with rain

Floatable retainer, awesome idea, will invest. Something else to be aware of is stepping onboard from the dock with bifocals. Easy to make a misstep.

Re: Fellow Four Eyes dealing with rain

Why all the dive mask talk. No one is actually going to wear that over there glasses to keep the rain off. Besides the dive mask will get water spots on just as bad. You people are over thinking this.

Re: Which ones have ship wheel/helm and no tiller?

We went from a rl24 with a tiller to a Watkins 29 with a wheel. Actually I kinda miss the tiller. It's much simpler, no cables and such. Folds up out of the way for more cockpit space. The wheel I...

Bosun's chair and spinnaker sailing.

Watching Jaws 2 today and noticed the scene where the kids on the sailboat have the spinnaker rigged to the bosun chair and are having a blast. Anyone ever actually do this? Looks like a lot of fun...

Re: Fellow Four Eyes dealing with rain

I just deal with it. A clean tee shirt to wipe your specs on. Of course a good hat if it's raining. I find the salt water spray more of a pain, it slaps you right in the face, a hat won't stop that.
