Re: Applying Cetol Natural Marine Teak

It's worth a shot, have had mixed success myself. And that's assuming this is only for small touch up areas, not anything major. Take it back well into the 'good' finish and follow JimsCal's...

Bedding bare teak with butyl tape? (Maine's Bed-It)

Hopefully Maine will chime in...

It's worked great for our deck hardware, but I'm looking to rebed the toe rail next (teak to fiberglass) and I'm reading conflicting information.

Some guys on...

Re: Block choices ... so many options

Should just be a cotter ring on the other side of the clevis pin. Can't see it in the photo, block is in the way.

Re: Block choices ... so many options

Can appreciate your bewilderment, just went through this exercise and decided to replace just the blocks at the mast plate to evaluate my choice.

There's an endless list of mfg's - don't forget...

Rub strake for sheets/halyards?

Looking to protect some of our cockpit bright work when underway. The lines in question aren't under tension, but still tend to chafe.

Anyone try these and can comment on their experience?

Re: USCG Documentation Renewal

Paid online on April 29th and received the renewal certificate on May 4th.

Extremely disappointed in the new tax, but begrudgingly have to admit the turn around time was outstanding.

Re: Replace Edson chain-wire setup

Not sure how you got to $700 unless you're looking to replace the sheaves and quadrants? While still not cheap, chain and wire kits from Edson are around $300 +/-.

Chain & Wire Kits : Edson...

Re: I got a sailboat for my birthday.

Congrats on the boat (and your Bride). If this wasn't one of the books she got you, I'd highly recommend you pick up a copy. It's available in a couple of editions, any of which will get you on the...

Re: Central vac

Central vac on a sailboat? Sounds like something you'd find on a Jeanneau...

Kidding aside (and FWIW), this little unit has worked flawlessly for over 5 years on everything from dog hair to sea...

Re: Rub rail oxidation.

This works very well to clean up the rub rail (not sure it will get rid of the chalk like surface though). Move quickly and don't spend too long on any one spot or the acetone will begin to gum up...

Re: micro Jump Starters - anyone tried them on your boat?

Come on! Have a little imagination - it's a boat, things go wrong all the time, even when you've prepared properly. Ever carry a rigging knife on you when you sail? Besides, it's the size of a thin...

micro Jump Starters - anyone tried them on your boat?

Quick forum search came up empty. Curious if anyone's tried one of these on their boat fitted with a smaller diesel, say 10-15hp? Specs claim it can jump a 3L or smaller diesel engine.

Re: NuTeaks C-Flor installed on a Catalina 30

Quite possibly nothing at all, but over time you may see flexing at the seams. Wood floors are normally laid with staggered seams/joints for both aesthetic and structural reasons. Putting...

Re: NuTeaks C-Flor installed on a Catalina 30

Having a hard time understanding your reasoning on this, can you elaborate a bit more? The product looks decent but the seams may be an issue for you moving forward. It looks like you just needed...

Re: Variable speed polisher recommendation

Have the Makita and I just use a smaller backing plate on it. Haven't had any issues getting into tight corners, sometimes I'll remove the loop handle. It's really not that heavy.

re: USCG 6 Pack License

Correct, the CG captures sea service on form CG-7195. For better or worse, they aren't looking for the actual log books. BTW, if it's your first time qualifying for the license, you can go back to...
