My 1978 32...

...is 32', not 32" (kind of reminds me of "This is Spinal Tap"), but I agree, they're nice boats. On these boats, there is no rudder stuffing box, because the rudder shaft tube comes up above...

That list is pretty daunting! I've gotten rid of a lot of topside leaks, but have more to go, like the handrails and deck and cabin-top hardware. The hard headliner doesn't help when trying to find...

Water ingress to the fiberglass

It sounds like if the bottom of the bilge is spongy, that you might have water infiltration through the resin and glass above the lead ballast. I thinking "digging" a hole might allow even more water...

How did you determine which Kubota was equivalent?

I have an M4-30 Universal, and I'm curious how you figured it out. Is there a lookup table somewhere? Or did you look at Kubotas that seemed to be of the same configuration? Thanks.

Jeez, Dale, I really hope that is not a picture of one of the spiders on your boat! I have some arachnaphobia, and I could barely look at that picture.

I bought a shackle with a plastic chafe guard to attach the replacement slug at West Marine. I imagine it would work with a track as well the in-mast groove for slugs.

Good suggestions

I was just pondering how to make a mold to make this piece, but the florist's foam is a great idea. The part is only to level the area where the hatch mounts, so it isn't very heavily loaded. I will...

Shims for hatch

I'm redoing the hatch on my O'Day 32' CC, and the shims that curve with the coach roof and give a flat area to mount the hatch are pretty well rotted, and have been leaking for a long time (with the...

That's interesting!

I would have imagined there would have to be some voltage on the meter to make it deflect when the motor is off. Anybody have any idea why this phenomenon would occur?

Tach reads 500 RPM when not running

Anybody have any thoughts on why the Tach on my Universal M4-30 might exhibit this condition. The boat was repowered a few years ago from an Atomic 4, and the tach works, except for the incorrect...

Though the transducer ticks continously when the depth finder is on, I will doubleckeck the wiring, as the PO was less than meticulous in his wiring practices, most of which I have cleaned up. I...

O'Day through-hull transducer mounting

I read in a posting that the depth transducer in O'Day 32' CC is not mounted in a through-hull tube, but bonded directly to the hull, and difficult to remove, but now I can't find the post. Is anyone...
