Re: 2-blade Flexofold Problems

Wow, my 3-blade FOF will back the boat at less than 1000-rpm. But I would have a serious problem with the blades not opening at low rpm, I count on that prop walk sometimes.

Re: 2-blade Flexofold Problems

Well if you can not be bothered to pick up the phone and feel that talking to an actual person is less helpful than and an email I no longer feel bad about your problem.

Re: Splash 2015

Moved my boat from the winter marina to the summer mooring last weekend. It was just too cold to me to go sailing. But next week it is going to get into the 70s and I'm really! ;)

Re: Are you sure you really want that captain's license?

I think there is a big difference in getting a license for your our use (knowledge, small boat charters, insurance discount) and in using it for something like running a ferry.

Re: 1989 Hunter 40 - A million questions.

I've long decided that unless you have been out before and are CERTAIN of what you need that you should just cover the basics and get other things once you have proven to yourself it worth spending...

Re: 2-blade Flexofold Problems

My idea is that you pick up the phone and CALL them!!!

Having a problem and sending them an email and then posting about it on a forum, yet not picking up the phone is getting you what?

Re: Retiring soon...

Wonder how many here have just become insulted

Some of us are partially disabled, older, and FAT and we can still handle a 40-50' boat. It's just a boat not marathon with a weight lifting...

Re: Trouble being a dude looking for a girl? Try being a dude looking for a dude...

Probably better luck looking on a "Dude looking for a Dude" site who also likes sailing than looking on a sailing site for a dude.

Re: Retiring soon...

Good luck and have fun!

BTW - The actual sailing part of the plan is easy to learn, don't let people try to convince otherwise. You can learn the sailing just as well living on the boat in a nice...

Re: Old survey to new surveyor?

I don't think it makes any difference if you give the new surveyor a copy or not of the old survey to do a survey on a 20' boat.

BUT I think it is very important to have him check any negative...

Re: Serious attack on cruisers in Haiti - Injuries

Everytime I read one these threads I experience a similar thought process. It starts out as sadness for the cruisers involved who were injured and then becomes fear, ..............of other cruisers...

Watermakers - brands et

There must be more than 2 major and 3 minor (larger garage level) watermaker brands/manufacturers out there for the avg 40ish sailing boat. So lets collect some:

What watermaker do you have or...

Re: Marina personnel attached battery wrong

Really? My boat is a 2001 and my cables are yellow! I think the current standard is that the ground wires be yellow because too many people have trouble between red/black.

The real way to prevent...

Re: Serious attack on cruisers in Haiti - Injuries

I think in the whole the best answer is that you have to able to secure yourself inside the boat. Someone entering the boat is at a big disadvantage. After that it becomes ways to draw attention to...

Re: Marina personnel attached battery wrong

Is this one of those qualified boatyard worker stories that the marina looks to normally bill out at $65/hr when you want work done on your boat?

Threads here and on CF about the attack, both which quickly stopped being about the cruisers being attacked as the event became an opportunity for the same ole sabre rattling internet forum crap.
