Very cool. Thanks amw. So the 4-hole cleats generally have a high failure rate (at the feet), where the 2-hole cleats were stronger, with the failure happening at the fastener, as shown in that photo...

I had the same boat and same valves...though they still worked. With something that old and corroded, I'd definitely pull it out of the water. It's not worth the risk.
