Re: Holding tank cabin odor, is it a bad hose?

We have owned an Air Head, 2 Natures Heads and now a C-Head. I love them all but I'm really surprised and pleased with the C-Head. Out of all three composters it's by far the easiest to access and...

Re: Production Boats and the Limits

No worries Ralph, looks like Jon's made an average of over 2.5 posts per day for the last 4 years. I doubt if he gets to see his boat that often, if he owns one. The armchair must be really...

Re: Production Boats and the Limits

Jon, just curious but out of the almost 4000 posts you've made on Sailnet in the last 4 years I realize that you've received almost 2000 likes but given none out. You've also been thanked over 150...

Re: CATAMARAN DESIGN and BRIDEDECK CLEARANCE

With a cat it's not so much how high you can point but VMG. The cat may sail 5 or so degrees more of the wind but will reach their destination quicker.
True, the trend nowadays is for the condo cat,...

Re: looking to buy a used catamaran

We spent quite a bit of time on this boat and it is beautiful, not a lot of work needed. That being said, this boat can't handle a large load so if you're looking for a floating condo, this ain't it....

I personally think that's a great looking spinnaker!

Re: Production Boats and the Limits

I purchased a 1969 Raleigh Twenty folding bike last year. Great well built bike, but as I'm 6'4" I look like a circus clown riding it. Good thing I'm to old to care:-)

Re: Production Boats and the Limits

You call that a bicycle? My god that things dangerous, not road worthy at all! It would look kinda cute in Key West though;)

Re: Question: Do you close your seacocks when leaving the boat?

Ouch! Wouldn't want one of those hoses to come loose or the seacock to fail at the wrong time. I personally don't want any thing that could sink my boat to be a pain in the ass to access.

Re: When Do You Get Off?

I honestly don't think anyone would have the answer to this question until they have gone through it. And if they go through it again, the circumstances may have changed where their decisions would...

Re: Acutal clearance ?? - Ft. Myers bridges

We talked to the Ft Myers Yacht Basin a couple of years ago. They said the lowest bridge was between their marina and the gulf, can't remember which one it is. May be worth a call.

Re: Acutal clearance ?? - Ft. Myers bridges

We went through about two years ago, 52.5' mast. On the way east our antenna dragged on the bridge. On the way west it cleared. If I remember correctly on the way back it showed 56'.
Why would the...

Re: Air Head Composting Toilet or Similar Mfg.

We've owned a Airhead and two Natureheads and just received our new C-head a few days ago for our new used boat. Can't wait to install and use it!

Re: Thoughts on 2 survey items

I wouldn't worry much about the rudder. My guess is 90% of the rudders out there have some saturation in them.
I would definitely get the delam looked at priced out and repaired. Shouldn't be a big...

Re: generator a good idea?

I feel the same way about a diesel generators fumes as you do the noise of the Honda. If only we could all survive of solar.

Re: generator a good idea?

To me, the fumes of a diesel generator are much more obnoxious than the hum of the Honda 2000.
If it wasn't for humans, this would be a beautiful world.:-)

Re: generator a good idea?

I agree, if you can fit enough solar and a large enough battery bank solar is the way to go. My problem would be the "flaw in the setup" statement. Let's be honest, a Catalina 30 won't have the real...

Re: generator a good idea?

The worst thing you can do to your diesel primary propulsion engine is to use it to charge your batteries. The engine doesn't have enough load on it to reach optimum temperature and it will age your...

Re: has anyone made a homemade catamaran and cross a ocean yet?

Wharrams, Woods design, Shuttleworth, Oram, Simpson, Schionning, Crowther and I'm sure I'm missing many other designers who have had their designs home built and crossing oceans with no problems. Not...

Re: Anyone ever buy bigger or new and regret it?

I think your right, it's all about experience. Over the past 20+ years we've cruised on catamarans between 30 and 43 feet and we've come to the conclusion, based on our experience, that the mid 30'...
