Basically, I'm looking to replace an old knotmeter with a non-transducer setup, so a gps-based model.
Really just want speed...

Re: Shroud tension by feel

Here's some tuning tips taken from a post by a rigger on a Ranger site several years back.

Re: Pearson 26 keel bolts

Do you know the length of the bolts? I've got a Ranger 26 that has a similar flanged keel setup using 5/8 bolts. The bolts would likely fit if the length is close.

Curious, though. When I replaced...

Re: I'm Done

Never understood why someone would post a “I'm not gonna post any more” post. Seems like they have a pretty pompous opinion of themselves. Are we supposed to wear sackcloth or repent at the loss or...

Re: Cal 28 Flushdeck project

Regarding hiding the hardware with a wooden filet, I used a similar technique to cover my genoa tracks. I left a few bolts extra long and used sex bolts (sometimes called blind nuts or barrel nuts)...

Re: 1974 Coronado 23MkII Boom extrusion

Might try Dwyer Mast. You have to have a good idea of the size of your current boom, but they have a variety of fittings that might fit.

Re: Dismasted: Broken forestay

Do CDI furlers even have a model that uses a traditional halyard? I thought they were all built with the halyard on the foil.

Sounds like an original wire swage gave out after 30 plus years. Glad...

Re: Hazy/Streaky Portlights

Very happy. It seemed to just remove the dead, very thin layer. No gouges or scratches from the razor.

Re: Hazy/Streaky Portlights

I tried the Novus 3, 2, 1 system with mediocre results. Then for some reason I tried a razor blade in one of those handheld plastic holders. Pushing the blade at a low angle across the surface seemed...

While sandblasting is a nice way to go, it's not always practical or feasible. If you can't blast, do as you are doing, grind with a low grit (16 or less) angle grinder, then use a wire brush or...
