Re: Boat for sale

Boatpoker, the forum has a classified section with a sub-forum for boats. You meet the membership time and post count requirements but the boat can't be for sale for more than $5K.

Re: VHF Protocol

When initially responding to a mayday in Sectors Delaware Bay and Baltimore, registration numbers are not requested by the CG over the radio. Once they arrive on scene, depending on the situation,...

Re: I can't heave to

When we had a tiller we centered it (or put it in whatever position was necessary), threaded a line through a metal eye attached to it and attached each end of the line to a stern cleat.

Re: Don't think you're important? Think again mates!

Ha! I think that was in response to me reporting Jeff for not putting his updates in the appropriate forum (knowing that he sees reported messages). :)

That only took me reading it four times to get it.

Re: VHF Protocol

Sorry. I was trying to give you a compliment.

I do.

Since the CG is not going to ask for my boat's registration unless I'm being boarded, I see no reason to. You can contact your local...

Re: help with a new potential sailor

I'm sure James is referring to the band and not the plant. :D

Best of luck, James.

I have been quite enamored lately with Weatherbug and its lightning alert.

Re: Where are the younger people?

I don't buy the "too expensive" part of this argument no matter what the age. Who says that you must buy a boat to sail?

Both sail clubs that I belong to cost less than $40/year to be a member....

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

I can't say that those topics are never brought up but somehow it just works out that they are rarely discussed. I don't know how to explain it. It's just a different atmosphere. No one really cares...

Good thoughts, but...

I don't know about you, but I don't have my registration numbers memorized and by the time I fetch the registration card, my boat will have sunk.

The CG watchstanders...

Re: Where are the younger people?

It's just as likely that it is not going to be the other way. But, we get that kids aren't for you. How about a happy post? :) We like to hear about what's going right with your sailing, too.

Re: Where are the younger people?

Do you have the option to go to another marina? Maybe do some dockwalking and scope out a different atmosphere?

It sounds like you just chose the wrong place to land. Nothing says that you have to...

Re: Where are the younger people?

I guess that's a rather blunt way of saying that you made a decision based on the lifestyle that you want to live.

We chose to not have children but I don't view children as a "death to dreams."...

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

As Andrew said, he was joking. Probably a furball caught in his throat.

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

That would be interesting. Admin: I'd like a "Pitch Fork" and a "Torch" button next to my "Boot" button, please.

We don't have an "Off Topic" section of course, but chat is still part of the...

Re: Sailnet Chat Silenced -- Day 2

Re: Going through withdrawal...

Gary, now would be a good time to start a cauldron of kahlua. You'll soon be with a new crop of people who have not sampled your stock. (GREAT with hot chocolate.)
