Re: '84 Hunter 31 weird Keel-Hull joint

Another question,

How long has it been since the previous haul out? It looks like it would take more than one season for it to drop that far. Run aground?

It is likely to be fixable, but it'll...

Looks like you're gonna lose it any time. When was the last time the bolts were even looked at?

Re: Catalina 30 - Help!

have you seen/been on the boat first hand? When comparing a wheel and tiller, look at the space you have in the cockpit. A tiller can be moved out of the way most times (like at anchor) and the wheel...

Re: Encapsulated Chainplates - Is it a deal braker?

I got new chainplates all around. They were 33yrs old and while they looked fine on the outside with what looked like minor surface rust, one bent in my hands showing a crack trough it leaving only...

Re: Need help with botched thru hull installation

Not sure I understand how the saran wrap was used. I installed one seacock so far (Groco/bronze) and for the thru-hull, I used a mold release wax. Once the epoxy was set holding the G10 backing in...

Re: 1 rescued, 1 dead, 4 missing in Mobile Bay Regatta

This was posted on Cruisers Forum showing wind speed in the area.
Look at it from the past 24hrs. You'll see a spike in the wind speed of over 50mph still on there.

Re: Need Help with Neglected Boat

It'll take some hard work but you might be able to save it if you really want to.

At least do what Captainmeme is saying and scrub the hell out of it. Strip it down then rebuild as needed.

Good...

Re: Looking to sail from New York to south America

Another thing to think about, many people going that route are not likely to actually sail, but rather motor down the ICW until Florida then island hop until making it far enough south. Would likely...

Re: How poor is the average liveaboard cruiser?

I lived in the Marshall Islands for a couple years in high school and would take the husk off the coconuts by hand. Sometimes it was just a matter of banging the thing against some rocks to soften it...

Re: Need Help with Neglected Boat

go to Home Depot or Lowes (or where ever) and get a sump pump. You can set it up, drop it in with a hose coming out of the boat and it'll get rid of most of the water.

If it's been sinking like...

Re: How poor is the average liveaboard cruiser?

Just tell any extra's to bring their own plates, that they can take back with them and clean themselves.

So, from the last few pages, what I'm getting is that if you can't fix it yourself, you...

Re: Anti-fouling paint under the keel

I've heard of people asking yards to do an over-lunch haul out where there is usually more time to paint and allow to dry, but, if drying time is an issue, couldn't you ask for an overnight lift when...

Re: Small Live-Aboards?

I'm 6'5", I think the headroom on my Nor'sea 27 is around 6'. Haven't measured but it doesn't bother me.

I do the same with sitting and standing at open hatches. I thought the same about...

Re: Trailer brake fire!

The threads might be why I'm sucking air instead of fluid. I'll have to find something to seal the threads.

Thanks.

Re: Trailer brake fire!

I got one of those at the local autozone this past weekend. I wasn't sure if I was using it right as it seemed to only suck up air and only a little bit of fluid. I almost seemed to get better luck...

Re: GPS a bit bigger then I expected

Exactly!

They're measured in the same way TV's, phones, and computers, by the screen size.

I was looking at the 740s as my next one, but since the 741xs came out, that one is looking good now....

Re: GPS a bit bigger then I expected

I think you'll be able to see everything you want with that one. :D

I've seen them in a West Marine. Quite large. Been looking at going from a Garmin 546s to something slightly larger, maybe 7".
