Re: Re power or keep the old one

Oil seals are a stock item, that is they are not Yanmar specific, so should be easy to find. My experience is that Yanmar parts get expensive, but are available. Mack boring has been easy to deal...

I just found my copy of the YSM 8 & 12 manual, if that will help. Drop me a PM with your email and I'll send it along.

Re: Yanmar SB8 issue/questions

I'm putting in a Beta Marine 14. With an 18 gallon fuel tank that gives about 40 hours of endurance. The only way to get that type of endurance with electric is to install a diesel generator, which...

Re: Engine Replacement

I can second the Beta Marine idea. I am in the middle of replacing my YanmarYSM 12 with a Beta Marine 14. While I am no fan of saildrives, the thought of converting a saildrive boat to a shaft drive...

Re: Is anone on here "a known shipper with American Airlines"?

I did not mean to imply you would have an issue getting a getting one, just that you would have to get and pay for one. If you have a TWIC card, that would count, otherwise I think the fee is about...

Re: Is anone on here "a known shipper with American Airlines"?

I have not read the entire thread, but have a bit of experience with cargo security and haz mat shipping There is no way you can "legally"
become a known shipper without a background check. Someone...

Re: McGregor 26 on the Mediterranean

I like Macgregors, I owned a 22-2. They are fine boats, but like all boats come with lots of compromises. The decisions which make the 26X/M easy to trailer are the ones that make it a less than...

Battery Link Charger

Has any one had experience with the Blue Sea Battery Link Charger (7605)? This is a Charger with Automatic Charging Relay in one unit.
The boat is a Mariner 28, which will be in a slip next season....

Re: Strange sound then complete shutdown

Kinda like playing darts in the dark! I'm guessing a clutch issue, slipping/overheating /seizing. Now the clutch won't release and the drag of prop and shaft won't let the starter motor spin fast...

Re: Wet Exhaust - What's all wrong with this picture?

I hesitate to interject, but there are two possible sources of water intrusion, the exhaust port on the transom and the raw water sea ****. IF the engine is below the heeled water line, you could...

Re: Replace gas tank Catalina 27?

Trust me there is no one cheaper than me, But sometimes the cheaper way involves spending a bit more money up front. Check with the big distributers, Sailnet, West Marine, Defender, Hamilton Marine,...

Re: Fuel consumption question

I am very hesitant to dip an oar in this given many of the answers are given by folks much smarter than me, BUT, I think this is a case of theoretical vs. practical. That is while 100A may be 1.2 HP,...

Re: Yanmar SB12 Injector Pump

OK just checked, re: "fuel feed pump" Yanmar PN: 124070-52010, parts manual only shows a complete assembly + mount gasket (124223-01850). The shop manual mentions a Diaphram, but no part number...

Re: Yanmar SB12 Injector Pump

The shop and parts manuals for the Y series are on line, and in hard copy from Yanmar parts suppliers. I have a hard copy somewhere, I'll try to find it for reference. Are you talking about the lift...

Re: Replace gas tank Catalina 27?

Glad its working out for you! I'd figure on replacing all the hoses, they are proablely original and therefore 30+ years old. Much easier to do it now instead of doing it over again in a few months....

Re: Replace gas tank Catalina 27?

Can't say specifically about your 27, but later Catalinas used Ronco "plastic" tanks. Ronco is still in business, and may be able to supply a tank. A friend had an older C 30 and replaced Fuel, water...
