I don't know why, but I have always put Catalina's in the cruise the harbour basket, never looked at any concept of sailing offshore in one. Like I said, no reason. I have never even set foot on one....

Hi, Has been a liveaboard for 8 years. yes it would be a great fun shakedown cruise I reckon.

I have been chatting with the broker on this one recently, looking at seeing it soon.

It looks to be in good quality but $165K seems rich for a 99 build

Yes, probably right.

What are the thoughts on Catalinas, and inparticular where they sit in the scheme of quality, coastal sailing suitability, finish standard, rig, handling at sea etc

Thanks Arvicola, I will keep my eyes open, there are some really nice designs, like the Binks Yachts, Farr Phase 4.

They look a lot like our current day Beneteau, Bavaria etc well ahead of their...
