Re: Annoying Halyard Slap

My catamaran is on a "T" at the end of a dock. One day I arrive at my boat and was greeted by large muddy footprints beginning on the water side of my boat and then across my cockpit and onto the...

Re: Small cooler for weekending

At the dock I use an ancient (1990s model) model of these.

Re: CATAMARAN DESIGN and BRIDEDECK CLEARANCE

Why? Are you writing a class paper, or are you boat shopping? Or God forbid, are you yet another guy planning a catamaran build project?

Did you review the hull design link I posted?

Do you...

Re: Boat Us conducts anchor tests

Kind of makes you wonder why that boat was in the hurricane belt during hurricane season, doesn't it?

I've prepared for many hurricanes but was only caught aboard just one time in hurricane...

Re: Boat Us conducts anchor tests

Ummm .... my experience is the same as Maine Sail's. I traded up to my Fortress anchors from a Danforth. Here in Florida, Fortress can't be beat.

Re: Boat Us conducts anchor tests

If this anchor test occurred in a vacuum and it was the one and the only anchor test ever conducted, I think your concern would be justified. But .. it's not. Google anchor tests and you'll find a...

Re: CATAMARAN DESIGN and BRIDEDECK CLEARANCE

First... not affiliated with Sailing Anarchy, though I guess I am a sort of webmaster, but only of what's in my signature.

I gave you real world advice from a cruising catamaran owner who's...

Re: CATAMARAN DESIGN and BRIDEDECK CLEARANCE

It's all about the weather window. If any of us were in a hurry we wouldn't own sail boats!! :)

Re: CATAMARAN DESIGN and BRIDEDECK CLEARANCE

You're not from around these parts are you? Where do you think you're going to find this information? Perhaps you might head over to Sailing Anarchy and check with the racing crowd. You know, those...

Re: Boat Us conducts anchor tests

I know. But it's true and pretty much the same results in every anchor test published regardless of who was running the test. However, Fortress anchors aren't perfect, as these tests are run in the...

Re: Boat Us conducts anchor tests

Talking anchors on here is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Few won't defend the anchor they already own regardless of published data.

Disclaimer.... I own 3 Fortress anchors, and they...

Re: Annoying Halyard Slap

I've been buying U/V protected bungees, and replace them once a year. That should work for even the most absent of boat owners. :)

Re: Core construction structures

I've done this, using something like the West System. I went from the bottom, for all the right reasons. I would caution anyone contemplating this as it's the more difficult path as gravity is...

Re: CATAMARAN DESIGN and BRIDEDECK CLEARANCE

Well, there's the 'rub', so to speak. Unless you've bought yourself a new America's Cup class catamaran, a catamaran sailor isn't going to be arguing his boat goes to weather better than a monohull. ...

Re: Boat stability

This isn't enough info. Heck, we don't even know if this boat is sloop rigged, or the mast height. How are we supposed to determine if she's tender? Was she designed as a 'round the buoys' race boat?...

Re: Buying my first boat please help
