Re: Help me find a 40-ish foot pilothouse

I posted a reply on your other thread about Nauticats just to give you an idea of the 2 separate lines of boats that Nauticat puts out.

Re: Nauticat 38 for offshore sailing. Thoughts?

You should go to the Nauticat website to see the difference in the 2 lines of Nauticats. Mine and True Blue were the 'Traditional Pilothouses" = Boxy.

The other totally seperate...

Re: What's a cutter rigged ketch? And a slutter?

"or the worst one, “cutter rigged ketch”. We already have all the terms we need to describe rigs that have been around for 200 years."

Gee Bob, what have you got against Nauticat 33's and most...

Re: New England sailors?

I was at Greenwich Bay Marina for 8 years - 10 years ago(since taken over by Brewers) and the soot was quite noticeable. I have to assume that most others in that area have the same problem. The jets...

Re: Windlass - With or Without Drum

Maybe you could reverse your thinking and do what I did. When using my previous Manual Lofrens windlass I used the port side rope/little chain as my primary anchor. After contemplating a heart attack...

Oh... I've been here but mostly just lurking. The past few years it seems that too many times I've posted from my non-existent memory and been appropriately corrected and slinked away for my stupid...

Re: Excessive stern "tuck" under power

Yes, they always say that but in general they over-prop you. That's why you have the smudge and they 'dig in' so well that's also why you squat.

I put an Auto-Prop on my previous C320 and loved...

Re: outboard well in a 26 footer -

I would worry more about the power you need than the weight of the engine. Don't forget you have a boom right over the engine well which can be used to hang a spare soft boom vang (I picked up a...

Re: Fuel Cleaning Service - Yes or No?

My answer to your basic question is YES, but I would be asking exactly what they are going to do to clean the sludge out of an '82 tank without an inspection port.

I should have been doing what...

A few years ago the "Siphon Break" vent to the outside in the above picture was clogged by a Mud Dauber Wasps nest. I only sail on weekends. The result was - Sometime during the week they made their...

Re: Repower confusion (horsepower)

I'm also a Yanmar fan and my 75hp turbo on my 18,000 lb. 331 is/was ('99) available without at around that 53hp. Nauticat always liked to over power their motor-sailers going back to the original 33...

Re: Newport/Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket--your feedbacked needed!

A taxi from Newport to Q.P. is a long $$ ride and I think just the bridge tolls are up to $4 now. From Newport to Vinyard Haven M.V. is a day each way and moorings (same area as the ferrys stop) are...

Because you mention the possibility of VDO's and a custom box I added a picture of mine. I'm a fan of StarBoard for outside stuff because I have much more teak (yards of it) out there...
