Re: New Father...Advice needed on sailing with kids

To clarify, I meant what were your reasons for purchasing one over the other (i.e. Salus over Mustang)...didn't want anyone thinking I needed their reasons for purchasing a life jacket in general. :)

Re: New Father...Advice needed on sailing with kids

We also use a white noise machine on land, so carrying it over to the boat is a great idea. I appreciate all the responses, and once it gets closer and the Admiral begins voicing her concerns, I'm...

Re: New Father...Advice needed on sailing with kids

Thanks for the replies...that was something I was wondering, whether it was better to keep them in car seats or not. It seems most have used car seats with success, but I also like the idea of the...

New Father...Advice needed on sailing with kids

Hello All,

I know there are additional threads out there with advice about sailing with children, but most I've seen seemed to address older kids. I am now the proud parent of a four month old...

Re: Moving to Florida

I will also second Sailing Florida Charters in St. Pete...my wife and I took ASA 104 with them a few years back and were very happy with them. We've also chartered with them several times when we...

Re: New halyard: Sta-Set or Sta-Set X?

I know this is a little late as the OP already ordered some VPC, but I would second Alex W's recommendation for Samson XLS Extra. I recently replaced my first and second reef lines with this (single...

Re: Do I need new sails

As someone who just replaced their sails with a new main and genoa this year, I can say that there is a noticeable difference between the previous, 15-year old sails and these new ones. More speed,...

Re: Suggestions for 28-32 cruiser?

I have no doubt replacement parts can be ordered for brands no longer in business...and as I'm sure the OP has noticed, there are a lot of boats out there from companies no longer in business. ...

Re: Suggestions for 28-32 cruiser?

As the owner of a Catalina with a wing keel...I've seen posts before from people with anecdotal evidence that Catalina's with wing keels have longer rudders. While I haven't measured my rudder and...

Re: Suggestions for 28-32 cruiser?

There are numerous boats that would likely serve your purposes, with some previously noted, but I would also suggest looking at a Catalina 28. We have had one for several years and have been very...

Re: Taking my ASA101 and 103 at once

The wife and I took 101 & 103 back-to-back and I don't see an issue with it. Yes, while it would be ideal to practice in between, the OP may have some difficulty in finding someone willing to let...

Re: Main sail can be difficult to raise

I second the suggestion of using McLube on the slugs or sail track...I seem to use it everywhere now. For the main, I've used it only on the slugs and it does help...to some extent.

Re: Pearson 30 Bilge Pump Recommendations?

As bilge pump switches were mentioned above...a lot of people seem to like the Ultra Pump Switch Jr...it is pricy, but it appears to mount onto the bilge pump itself. I don't have any experience...
