Re: Avoid "diegoscustommarine" on eBay for custom canvas

Just so you know, I speak from experience, having worked in a canvas house.

Using the current canvas as a template would not save labor. In some cases it would take more labor, in fact. In order...

Re: Avoid "diegoscustommarine" on eBay for custom canvas

Is there a grommet with a line made to it in the aft top end of the cover? Take that line and pull the cover taut, aft to the topping lift, and tie it off. If no grommet, put one in - might help...

Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

On the subject of sourcing, McMaster-Carr is an industrial supply house not unlike Grainger. McMaster has an excellent online search engine which includes data on the materials in question. There is...

Re: Inspecting fire extinguishers

In the US, the local Power Squadron arm of the USCG will do a free 'safety check' which is for many reasons a good thing to do

When my boat was recently checked the inspector looked at the gauge...

Re: Golf of Mexico video cruising reports

A fair number of the racers go to the bulkhead on east side, there at that little rodeo ground. During the race there's latitude as far as tying up to the bulkheads around the area. You'll get asked...

Re: Golf of Mexico video cruising reports

Surprised, and sorry, to hear you found the bottom of Aloe Bay. It's the rendezvous for the after-party for the Dauphin Island Race, which usually has at least a hundred or more boats... here's a pic...

Second on the pawls.

Our technique for winch rebuilding includes taking an appropriately sized cardboard box and cutting a slot and hole such that you can put the box 'round the winch for parts...

Re: Zinc Consumption question

We have a collar zinc on one of our Gori props, and it wears much more quickly than the others (which don't turn, as the prop zinc does). Our theory is that the friction of the water and what it...

Re: Lets talk about dinghies y'all

Re: I Equate it to Driving in a Bad Snow Storm!
