Re: Urgent shaft seal question

My question is about not being able to haul it for repairs. You would rather not use it for two months rather than pay for the haul?

Re: Urgent shaft seal question

What does this mean? You need to fix it or you may come to the marina one day and find it on the bottom of the slip. That will be an expensive haul!

Re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

You have enough BS to take care of all the categories. Now you are making a post using your post on a totally different matter to make a point. Stick it!

Re: Sailing Clothing

If you fall in you are going to be cold unless you are wearing a dry suit...which is really overkill most of the time. Waterproof does not mean that you are sealed.

Re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

I saw that Smack and Capt Len posted to this so decided to see what was happening. Smack got the hurricane part absolutely correct. In fact, if you don't know how to sail well, a small tropical storm...

Re: How sailing certifications affect insurance

Why not ask your insurance agent? If they don't offer any discount, try another company and see if they do.

Jeanneau SO 379

I posted this on the other Jeanneau thread, but then realized that many of you, like me, were ignoring that thread. This is some good news about Jeanneau.

Had the opportunity to sail a 379...

Re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

I was ignoring this thread, but today have a reason to point to some really good things about Jeanneau.

Sailed a new Sun Odyssey 379 for a few hours today. Good wind, average 20 kts. The boat...

Re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

Oh, check out his boat buying guide here on sailnet. That is how he gets to a $100K Jeanneau from a $150 K boat that he would then offer $50K for. I think that there is a reason it is the least...

Re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

Based on his most recent blog it looks as though his real plan is to be a contractor for Tow Boat , because he may end up having more pumping capacity then they have on any of their boats.

Re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

This is just one more instance of your asking a question, getting input, and then going with what you wanted to think in the first place. Your perceptions of yourself, your abilities, and your boat...

Re: Jeanneau, the worst bost for the money?

So, bottom line, this thread was your way of saying that your Tayana brand is so much better? Tayana is a great boat as designed, and if kept to standards, it continues to be a great boat. There are...

re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

The 20 year old well loved Jeanneau from today is a lot different than the 20 year old Jeanneau that was in charter. Hours on engine (s), wear and tear a lot different than a personal craft whether...

re: Jeanneau, the worst boat for the money?

Saw the two at $150K+, but not the one at $100K. What exactly is your question? Tayana's and Jeanneau are much different makers, especially 20+ years ago.

Many of the French boats of that era, and...

Re: Boat selling question

The buyer and the broker may have a deal, but unless part of the purchase agreement is that you pay the brokers fee...the buyer will have to eat the brokers fee. Careful what you sign.

You are looking at a very big boat for him to walk around. Lots of boats in the 34' size have showers, but marinas and solar showers are much better.

34' Catalina V birth is close to allowing him...

Re: Wet Decks

Certainly, if you can get a yards estimate and the seller is willing to drop the price accordingly, it may work. This is a very expensive repair by a yard, so be prepared to be surprised.

You get...
