My crew brought along a GoPro and filmed this "preview" for a series of video clips about our trip.

Re: Why are we here?

And some of us were new to sailing and somehow managed to ask the same kinds of questions as marketing/sales people masquerading as us. haha.

I've only been here a short time, and during that time...

Re: Costco - Smarter Tools 2000W Gen by Yamaha

I've got 3 detectors now. When I get to the boat, I am going to play with varoious configurations for generator placement and exhaust venting. Two ideas I really like are putting it in the dink and...

Re: Costco - Smarter Tools 2000W Gen by Yamaha

I agree. I also hope it was a smart buy. Those Honda's are hands down the best, based on the reviews I've read online. I just couldn't afford one.

So my goal was to find the next best thing when...

Today I unpacked the generator, added oil and gas, and pulled...

Re: Transit Time?

Thanks to all for the insights, especially CaptainForce.

I plan to leave Islamorada on July 29th. Depending on the weather, I may skip the ICW and go outside. The current would be in my favor,...

Transit Time?

I'm working to estimate how low it will take to cruise from Key Largo to Jupiter on the ICW, estimating cruising at 4.5-5 knots.

The big question is waiting for bridges. I require 39' of...

Re: I want a nautical tattoo :)

The old bias against tattoos aren't holding. I've got tattoos. My boss has tattoos. Her boss has tattoos. We all work for a very big company, over 100 years old, which is iconic.

Culture has...

Dinghy Talk

I'm shopping and researching for a dinghy purchase. It seems like the most en vogue option is an inflatable/RIB. This makes sense, because they are so stable. It must make loading/unloading on the...

Re: Lack of Confidence

I have been afraid of electrocution during this process. I don't know what is safe and what is not, so I assume that touching things is not safe.

Do you tighten the connections behind the breakers...

I've spent the last hour in the cramped starboard engine room access area. If anything, I've damaged more than I've fixed. I am going to call a marine electrician.

It's a rats nest of wires, some...
