The earlier black drives have the same problem. The clutch will pop when turning in one direction. This is caused by the roller / cam assembly under the clutch lever getting dirty and lack of lube....

The "no Pilot" is telling you than the S3 and control head are not talking. You should see about 10.5V at the ST terminal on the CC and it should vary by about 0.5 V.

Andrew,

To convert to a 2 wire, remove the small circuit board on the back of the motor. Solder two wires to the tabs on the motor and you are done.

DRIVED STOPPED is telling you that the computer can no longer move the drive. It can be a problem in the drive, steering, or computer.

It is sometimes caused by carbon build up in the drive motor...

For a complete Autopilot, you will need the Ram (which you have found), a Rudder reference, fluxgate compass, control head and a computer.

Look on the drive and see if there is a label saying...

Looking at the front of the plug with the notch at 12 oclock, going clockwise;
Green
Red
shield
Blue

This is for the remote. I believe that the Nav interface is different.

I do not have that gear. If your gear spins on the new motor shaft, use a chissel to tap some burrs on the shaft and that will make it hold.

I don't think Raymarine ever made a "beltless" wheelpilot. They used the MkII wheel with both the S1 & X5 computer & it has an internal belt.
