Re: 1 rescued, 1 dead, 4 missing in Mobile Bay Regatta

For those that don't know how to radio check away from 16:

Sea Tow's Automated Radio Check (http://bfsshop.com/blog/radio-check-dont-do-it-on-16/)

PS - When we were hit by 50+ knot winds a...

Re: 1 rescued, 1 dead, 4 missing in Mobile Bay Regatta

How do you know they didn't call the CG?

This has nothing to do with political correctness - it's just that you shouldn't accuse people of pretty egregious stuff before you know the facts. There...

Nancy - though they are pretty dated, you should check out the Annapolis Book of Seamanship DVDs. Those are great.

Re: Big Freakin' Sails

I take it you didn't watch the video to the end? The seas at our location at that time were running about 6" - as there was only about 80' of fetch from the marina wall to our slip. Heh-heh.

Re: Production Boats and the Limits

Big thunderstorm moving through. Found a few leaks and just saw 52 knots. Glad I'm in the slip!

(PS - My bimini didn't blow off and I didn't sink BTW.)

Re: The Voyages of Paragon, Season 2

Come now UP. That's the easy way out. The attitude that is the father of mediocre.

Make them good (as Drake does). Then people will watch.

Re: Uh-oh, sounds like a new Production Boat might have found its limit...

Maybe one of those in-hull portlights stove in from the 20 mph wind and 6' swells? Or maybe the liner separated from the hull and the bulkheads gave way due to severe oil-canning? Maybe the rudder(s)...

Re: The Voyages of Paragon, Season 2

No worries. Again, it's not a knock at all on your videos. The storytelling is what makes them so consistently good. This was just a little technical nit-pick.

But, at the same time, you seem to...

Re: The Voyages of Paragon, Season 2

You see the interlacing mostly in areas of high contrast and motion. So it's not bad by any means. I'm just a tech geek (like you I think) whose been around video a long time and notice little issues...

Re: The Voyages of Paragon, Season 2

Drake - just catching up. Just watched "The Beach at Mount Sinai". Very well done dude. Just awesome story and music.

One thing I noticed - that you probably have too - is the "interlacing"...

Re: backing into a slip with single screw

Barry - my previous C27 was set up a lot like your P26.

Re: How to cut stainless steel railing

I got my tubing from Grainger (http://www.grainger.com/content/about-us). Fittings on eBay from Aurora Canvas.

Pretty cheap. And it seems to be holding up well.

Re: Advice From Young Punks

If you're fed up, don't watch the movies. Simple really.

Oh - and your post just took up 320 bytes in the "data center storage memory". Text-based selfie?

Re: New to sailing.. Very new.. Not even wet yet. Hey everyone.

Welcome to SN dudes. You'll like the place.

My advice is to just buy a 25'-30' boat (not too small so you can weekend on it - but not too big that you're freaked), find someone who knows how to...

Re: The Voyages of Paragon, Season 2

My favorite part is where you shut off the engine and sigh.

Isn't that quiet the absolute best part of being on a sailboat? It's "work done". It's relaxation. It's magic. Whether you're at anchor...

Re: Pearons 28 passes Beneteau 46

Dude, it's not the video. It's what you said about it and the guy in it. See the bold part above? I don't think anyone cares if you slam that general notion. I certainly don't.

What people...
