Re: Politics and Moderation

@blowin; The original post by the "Best looking Male Moderator" was an explanation by the mods over a couple of signatures that were requested to be removed by the moderators as they were "political"...

Re: Politics and Moderation

@bljones; Since Canucksailorguy is Canadian, Cuba is NOT "forbidden" to him. And in the view of international human rights groups is sure as hell isn't paradise. (See links I provided earlier.)...

Re: Politics and Moderation

So, my question was to the moderators. I.e. where is the line?
I offer the URL's below to make my point:

Re: Politics and Moderation

So if this thread is designed to explain why the Second Amendment of the US Constitution is not an acceptable signature line, why does Canucksailorguy get to post Commie Propaganda (i.e. Cuba -...

Re: Angry at my surveyor....

MarioG, I did not have any similar kind of experience with surveyors. As I said in my earlier post, I just bought a boat and I had a pre-purchase survey performed. He made a special point of doing...

Re: Angry at my surveyor....

I recently purchased a boat. I had the surveyor look at the forward bulkheads in the main salon because the chainplates (bolted to the bulkheads) had leaked and ruined the teak veneer. I was...

Re: Keel cutter, this is sick!

Okay, I watched. They probably destroyed the chain on the chainsaw, made a lot of lead flakes (47 pounds!) and got the keel cut into two pieces. But why? I'm not being sarcastic, I cannot think of...

Re: What do you wish you had known before buying your first boat?

Your boat needs to meet three different needs;
1) sailing - obviously. It needs to sail. It would be nice for it to sail well. You need to be able to handle the boat, so the gear must be placed...

Re: Cleaning a fuel tank

Round covers (think of the heavy manhole covers in the street) cannot fall into the sewer system. Or in this case, a round inspection port cover cannot fall into the fuel tank. Any other shape CAN...

Re: Cruising vs. Voyaging

Well, my ultimate dream would be to step off my boat (or via the dink) onto each of the seven continents. Well the four that touch the North Atlantic would be pretty easy compared to the other...

Re: Flash Evaporation?

Capt. Tom,
I am not trying to be difficult, I am trying to get educated. I just bought a sailboat. It has a seawater cooling system that cools a fresh water loop which in turn cools the diesel. I...

Re: Flash Evaporation?

The larger ships have dry exhaust up a stack. Your sailboat will not. The ships run the engine all the time (or at least a large diesel electric gen set), your sailboat will not (hopefully!!). The...

Re: Sailboat ID Help

On the transom there should be a hull identification number. It will likely start with a code of several letters that identify the builder. Try to find a HIN, it should help on the search a lot.

Re: Shipping wine by sailing Ship

A little pretentious, doing it to be "green". Doing it to save money (no fuel costs), doing it for nostalgia (with tastings aboard the ship) that would be great. Doing it to raise awareness of sail...

You went to the correct coordinates...
