Re: Bulkhead Paint and Prepwork

Thanks svHyLyte!
I have the book buried in the basement somewhere. I threw out a ton of those old books after I sold the Vega. I figured my sailing days were over...but it's in the blood.I will see...

Re: Looking for my first boat

Totally agree, however, I had an Atomic 4 In my Sabre and loved that little engine. There are simple steps to take to assure that the gas engine can be used safely. Closing all hatches, ports and...

Bulkhead Paint and Prepwork

Thinking about purchasing a '75 O'day 25'. I am not a huge fan of the wood veneer that they used back in the 70's and will want to paint over the existing finish. What would be the best type of paint...

Re: Vire 7 Gas Engine

From what I can gather, the Vire was a decent little engine, taken over by Westerbeke. The major drawback that most people had with them was that they didn't like to idle or run at slow speeds and...

Re: Vire 7 Gas Engine

I have found some Vire sites and most of the parts that you have available now are aftermarket parts that are cheaper than the original, but it is definitely getting harder to find the parts needed...

Re: Vire 7 Gas Engine

1975 O'Day 25

This is a great suggestion and one that I considered. Maybe give it a shot, see if she will turn over, and could always part out the engine I suppose.

Vire 7 Gas Engine

The boat I am looking at has both a Vire 7 and an outboard. The owner said the Vire needs a new carburetor and would probably run ok though she hasn't been turned over in many years. Should I leave...

Re: O'day 25 New Member

I used to be a terrible boat...

Re: 1969 Irwin 27' sloop

Thanks Caleb!

WE looked at a Tartan 27' on Lake Winnipesaukee. They are very nice boats indeed. Ended up with the Vega as she was a great price and another sea worthy design.

I may have to...

I am not sure how heavy it needs to be. Can't seem to find any information on that yet. Any idea where I might be able to find that?

Re: 1969 Irwin 27' sloop

Sounds great! Still having trouble finding specs on the CB, but I will keep trying. The Owner tells me she won't point at all and she won't tack without a fight. lol
