water heaters

Why bother with hooking it into your electrical system at all?

Have you considered the propane "instant on" water heaters such those made by Bosche?

This would be by far my choice.

Dickinson Newport heater

I`d double chack and make sure it was installed correctly. In particuliar, check to see that the stove pipe is the proper length, as this can greatly effect draft.

Liveaboard Slips - Vancouver?

Can anyone recommend any marinas in the Vancouver area that permit liveaboards?

Hatch gasket material

Ahh...there is only one type of gasket to use...

Go to an appliance outlet and order some refrigerator "D" shape gasket material.
Cut the strip into whatever lengths you need and apply it to both...

I think you`ll be surprised with todays more efficient and faster laptops. I`d say your on the very right track for your needs.

Most nautical related software doesnt use that much system resources...

I used to use NavTrek97 and Chartview Pro, ( as well as Offshore NAv. and Visual Nav. Suite )but after using CAPN Voyager, I think that might be the best on the market right now. The Coast Guard uses...

Maptech ??

The two basic choices for electronic charting are "raster" ( Maptech/Softchart ) and "vector" ( Nobeltec ).
Each have their own pros and cons.
