Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

The Starwind looks like a great boat. Lots of great boats in that size I am finding out. I think my dream of finding a garage sailer must come to an end. Too much to miss out on trying to meet the...

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Would like this first temp boat to be under 5K ready to roll, sail and motor along.

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Going to order a few books this evening and that will be one. Thanks. As for the garage thing it is pretty much a must. Neighborhood rules and the incline of my driveway prevent other possibilities....

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Other than being able to keep in garage, I just want something semi-stable in semi-rough conditions. Something that I can explore the local lakes on while gaining experience and looking for the lake...

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Storage is a big issue for me.

Been reading good things about the Vagabond 17.

Thanks again,

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Would MUCH prefer a 25-30' ship but the problem is that there is not one lake around here I would like to keep it on, and $300 month slip is absurd to me.

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

OK. Thanks for input and the links. Speaking of Siren I found one a couple weeks ago that needed a little sprucing up, waiting for price to drop... Any opinion on the Shock? I was considering looking...

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Sounds great. What do you think about the Renkin? I like the shoal draft, not swing-keel and the decent ballast for trailering to local lakes.

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

I did a little deck handing back in the 90's. Helped sail a classic wooden sloop from Mission Bay to San Diego Bay, pulled it out for a bottom job, stayed on boat, then sailed her back and no engine....

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

I am in the DFW area. Considering a Renkin 18. Can't seem to find a couple specs that are important to me such as max height on the trailer from ground to bow sprit, or mast or... Also would like to...

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

I'm looking hard! A trailer sailer that fits in garage, easy to step, simple rigging, towable behind jeep, overnightable, not TOO tender, is hard to come by in these parts!

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Thanks for the reinforcement. You know the feeling, the feeling like you are spinning your wheels, wasting time. The best way for me to be involved now is to study for CG test, and research a nice...

Re: The Chicken or the Eggs?

Yah I think you are right. I guess it helps to work things out by writing them out... Have been trying to study the cryptic CG website and some of the hokey flashcards. Learned a little but I think...

The Chicken or the Eggs?

While in the process of downsizing, selling, saving I am finding it hard to keep my eye on the chicken and not the eggs. I have an urge to outfit a boat before I even acquire one. Electronics are...

Re: Am I a Zombie?

Wasn't Johnny Weissmuller an Irish/Austrian/African zombie? Or was that Bogart? Gotta be a zombie/boat connection there somewhere. Man I need to move before it's too late.

Am I a Zombie?

There are only 2 ways to survive amongst the zombies. One way is to kill every zombie that you come into contact with and hope their numbers don't overwhelm you. The second way is to act like a...

Re: Micro cruisers

You were dead on with that information. I found a Siren with trailer pretty local and so far got the price down to $1500. It is sail ready, but would need A LOT of elbow grease to get it where I...
