It appear as though the company that provides our Chat feature recently updated their software and now one of their modules is being 'mis-classified' by Norton/Symantec and possible containing a virus. Until they have this resolved we have de-activaed chat. We've opened a support incident with Envolve and they will hopefully have this corrected soon.

Yanmar YM oil pressure alarm failure
The latest is that I jiggled everything I could find both on the engine block and on the back of the instrument panel, and nothing worked to restore the alarm.
The next day, however, and ever...

Yanmar YM oil pressure alarm failure
Hello, saillife.
It simply started working again, and I have neglected to check into it. My bad. I had better have a look at the panel wiring - that alarm is a critical component.
Thanks for...

Thanks to all who replied. Very helpful. It seems, for example, that two Racor products would do to fulfill all three functions: their biocide, and their diesel fuel conditioner. We don't seem to...

Thanks, Minnewaska and Dabnis.
In the meantime, I've been reading around, and have found any opinion that one might wish. The marina where I bought the engine said to use pretty well every type of...

I'm starting year three with a Yanmar 3YM20 - love it, of course.

Thank you both. Will have to review with mechanic. Getting underneath my engine would be more than difficult (although I hear they have these things called "mirrors" for places like that ...)

Yanmar YM oil pressure alarm failure
The other day my oil pressure alarm failed. This is when starting and stopping the engine, the light should come on and the audible whistle activate.
I had this on a charter sailboat recently,...

Yanmar YM coolant leak
I'm starting season 3 with a Yanmar 3YM20, and it leaks coolant. There's always a little under the engine, but a tiny top-up twice a season has seemed plenty.
I changed the coolant the other day,...

halyard shackle letting go, spinnaker halyard interference
Twice now, on a high mast ("P" over 38'), I've had the foresail halyard shackle let go, crashing the foresail down onto the deck and into the water, and losing the foresail halyard, the shackle...
