Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

I have a couple of those Westmarine go anywhere chairs, but rarely use them as they are so bulky and awkward to stow and retrieve - at least on my boat. comfy, but hardly worthwhile in our case.

Re: E32 prop shaft sizes-dimentions

The prop shaft on my '79 E32 with Yanmar 2QM20 is 1".

Fair enough. Still a good idea.

Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

Is there a reason you didn't just put the bolt in the chuck of the drill, and forget about the socket adapter and socket?

Re: Chopped Strand Mess

Further to Sailvayu's suggestion of a piece of cardboard to pre-wet, I have had good luck keeping leftover sheets of shrink wrap handy. Cut them to size, clip 'em to your cardboard and it's a great...

2QM20 seeping at High Pressure pump

Hi Diesel Whizzes,

I've been having diesel stink for a while, accompanied by a bit of diesel in the bilgewater. My 2QM20 seems to have some seepage occurring around the high pressure pump.

I...

Re: Zanshin just got some Solbian solar panels

I often use one of the better small torches to do shrink tubing. Use the heat, not the flame.

Re: Catalina 22 fixer upper

With respect to repainting the decks, I LOVE Kiwigrip. It's a think acrylic paint. So easy to apply, great results.

Lots of info on this site.

Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

I'v used some of that LED strip lighting, it works great. It's more for accent light than task light, as there's not enough intensity for tasks. Pay attention to polarity - the strips will not work...

Re: 1st big project, bronze thru-hull

I am just thinking that some chopped mat added to your thickened epoxy makes that part of the repair much stronger. Remember, epoxy hasn't much mechanical strength on its own. It's the glass that...

Re: 1st big project, bronze thru-hull

if you can get some chopped strand mat and make 3 or 4 little circles to fill the hole you're patching, that would be better. Wet them out thoroughly and stack them neatly in the hole. The...

Re: Keel: a.k.a Water Bucket

Iam,

Sounds like you have it somewhat sorted. Q: Do you have a deep sump at the forward end of the keel? If so, is that roughly where you drilled that hole? Do the bilges run to that sump? ...

Re: I think I stuffed my furler. What do you think?

If you're starting a campaign of replacing the standing rigging, you might consider doing it with superline instead of wire rope - except perhaps your forestay. I plan to make this change over the...

Re: Keel/hull repair need thoughts and input

I am not an expert. My comments are based on what I can see in the photo.

The above having been said, it looks to me like the same old thing, a little movement where the keel joins the hull. ...

Re: what type of fitting do I want at my outhaul car

I concur w Stumble. Take the car off to make it easy to splice an Amsteel/Dyneema eye right onto the car. Splicing 12 strand superline could not be easier. You could even splice in a thimble the...

Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

Nice enough battery box, but a week-long cruise in the North channel on a 16 ft boat in a week?! I am not worthy.

Re: Finishing brand new teak cockpit table

The table looks almost like the day it was built. It's holding up well.

I've had great luck (touch wood) bonding teak with epoxy. I think that the secret is having very clean mating surfaces,...

Re: Finishing brand new teak cockpit table

I made a table last spring - you can see it in this post in the ever popular low buck thread:

I built it, assembled it, and took it apart...

Re: Teak/Ipe supplier

Up north of Toronto is a wonderful place called Century Mill Lumber - obviously not convenient for the OP, that's not the point. They carry all sorts of exotic woods. When I was last there a couple...
