PB-blaster is good stuff.

A propane torch and wax works well too - heat the nut for 5 minutes with the flame, then melt wax into it.

Obviously SAFETY FIRST... don't do this near gasoline or...

Very good point - I just assumed the bootstripe, trim stripe and lettering were with enamel... I might try rubbing some acetone on the registration #'s... see wha thappens.
