Re: How do you start from nothing?

Welcome to SailNet Charlie. I started sailing by Googling local sail clubs and joining one before I bought my own sailboat. NOT yacht clubs, which are usually $$$. Sailing clubs are generally...

Re: Is flying a pirate flag lame?

I think everyone should agree to disagree and keep the fires banked. Pirate flags, anchors, boats, we're passionate about what we like and dislike.

tdw's buying eggnog for the room. Tell him I...

Re: Some people's children...

I may be totally wrong, but it sounds like Bubble just came to SN to blow off steam as many of us have done on occasion. "Socially challenged" would seem to apply more to someone who bursts into...

Re: Looking for a Catalina 320, 34 mark ii or 309

Try Googling Catalina clubs in your area. Send out emails to the contacts letting them know what you're looking for. More than a few Catalinas in the club I belonged to were sold within the club.

Re: Tartan 3700 issues, PLEASE!

I did the absolute same thing over a different boat. I'm pretty sure I felt drool on my chin. We're going for it.

Before you cross the Tartan off the list, PM T37Chef. He is good about answering...

Re: Beneteau USA closing operations?

Then perhaps use the email that was posted in the thread, the one to the Beneteau rep, and ask.

I'm probably going to suggest to the other mods that we delete this thread. It's nonsense if you're...

This is a nice thread. Please don't muck it up. If you want to rant, take it to PRWG.

What does this even mean?

And, not everything you write has to be posted in bold.

Re: Couple and a toddler, which boat to look for?

There are plenty of boats sailing the islands with 6 foot drafts. Unless you get a boat that can be beached, you're going to need a dinghy (unless you only plan on staying at marinas). Increasing the...

Re: World wide Marine Data Weather Resource

Newhaul,

You're trying to provide facts to someone who is convinced he is right. Hard to open that door once it is closed.

The most I'm hoping for from this thread is that those new to sailing...

Re: I need a used keel for a 22 foot catalina please help.

Sorry to hear about your keel. You've probably already done this but just in case, Catalina has strong owners associations so perhaps the 22 group can be of some help:

Congratulations and best of luck with her. And, welcome to SailNet!

There are a few Mac owners putzing around here. You should find plenty of answers to any questions you might have.

Re: Which ones have ship wheel/helm and no tiller?

Quite a few people have been encouraging the OP to do just that for the past few weeks. If he has, he hasn't reported back how he enjoyed it (or not). Until he actually gets on a sailboat and starts...

Re: Which ones have ship wheel/helm and no tiller?

Once you start sailing and get a chance to get on different boats this will be clearer, I'm sure.

Even with an inboard motor the wheel or tiller is still usually on the "'outside."

Where's Mr. Bubs' dead horse when we need it?

I think we have piled on more than enough. If Pupil hasn't gotten the message by now, he deserves the boat.

Let's move on, shall we?
