Re: Rallies Gone Wrong

Well, JonE, having one's schedule be set by the seasons is very different from this:

The start:

The "finish":...

Re: Pros and cons of steel sailboats

Translation - "You have to agree with me and pay me money before I'll listen to you."

Good luck with that.

Yeah I saw that. He also said he has a bunch of bits and pieces of his future BS...

Re: Rallies Gone Wrong

Actually, it's pretty relevant. The Bumfuzzles literally had NO schedule - at all. The Rallies do. So, like we saw last year, the rally routers are trying to look for very narrow windows to get...

Re: Dismasted in the Aegean - lessons to learn

That seriously sucks. Dismasting in less than 30 knots of breeze? That's on them.

Re: going big.

Great job av. Actually, what it confirms to me is that you can take virtually any boat you want to anywhere - as long as the conditions are within the limits of what you (and the boat) can handle.

That's exactly right. That's why the running argument Jon and I have is a bit silly. But it's fun, man!

Re: Rallies Gone Wrong

Good!

I don't at all criticize the SDR for doing the same things as the C1500. I criticize it for NOT doing the same things. See the difference?

Again, surely you understand you're...

Re: Rallies Gone Wrong

What do you have against the C1500, Jon?

I guess when a rally has the safety standards already in place - and applied to all participants - you don't need as much time in a seminar.

I have nothing to add. I just thought this was pure poetry and wanted to save it.

Applause.

Re: Pros and cons of steel sailboats

Actually, I TOTALLY agree with this. THIS is the biggest, most honest pro list of steel sailboats that I've seen on this thread!

Finally, absolutely the truth from Brent himself! Woohoo!

The...

Nicely played hannah.

I actually think it would be "doable" if all you're doing is flipping it. But I think it would take a tremendous amount of time to find the right boat (well equipped and maintained with a...

Re: Off-the-shelf way to get AIS from my GX2200 to Navionics on my tablet?

This may not help you - but I just did exactly that for my iPad-based iNavX system using the iMux:

The Mr. Universe of Nav Systems! (http://bfsshop.com/blog/?p=19)

It's freakin' awesome.

Re: Coast Guard Assists Boaters Aboard Sailboat 72 Miles Off Cape May - Cape May Coun

Out of fuel means "disabled" on a sailboat? Since when?

From the photos, it does look like it's pretty much a flat calm. So - my guess is that they were motoring to get somewhere, ran out of fuel,...
