Re: Needed: Customs & Immigration 101

It would not be the first time one forum went on a "safari" to another to stir up the pot. Seems to happen most often in the northern hemisphere winter months...

Re: '74 Ranger 23 here, FL

We used to race against a Ranger 23 in our phrf Weds night races. damn if that boat didn't beat us several times even though our boat is a 27 footer. A large part of it was the sly old captain; but...

Re: Stern tube grease and propeller shaft

Paging Mr. MaineSail.

I'm not sure why I PM'd you instead of posting in the thread.

Mitiempo (Brian) confirms that the greased shaft set up is either regional (British) or as I indicated...

Re: Need info on a boat!

I also love the lines of older boats like the one you posted a picture of. I just don't want to get stuck maintaining a boat like that.

You should be able to easily find a Catalina 22' for a...

Re: Need info about new sails

Sailmaker will probably suggest this but for the jib/genoa, have them sew extra foam in the luff so it furls with better shape.

Re: Quick Advice: Donating a boat ride for charity

I'll also agree that a 6-pack license IS required to make something like this entirely legal.
That said, my boat partner volunteered our boat for a similar charity auction. I forget the price it...

Re: I got a sailboat for my birthday.

Some rather good news is that Nichols Boat works is still in business so you may even be able to get replacement parts for your boat from them. Nichols is listed as one of the builders of the Rebel...

Make sure to look up Bill from the Moyer Forum while there.
I forget if don Moyer is nearby, or not.

Re: Varnish removal: should I, could I?

I'm not sure I'd want to attempt all 37' feet of that without some use of shore power. Varnish comes up very easily with minimal use of an electric heat gun & your favorite scraper/razor. I would...

Re: Hullo There. Dad Gave Me A Boat.

In the St. Exupery line I liked "Wind, Sand and Stars" perhaps more than his princely novella.
Given your connection to "Erin" wouldn't you have some thrall for J. Joyce or O. Wilde, or is that...

I think you lucked out too. Your impeller is likely missing a few of its arms/tentacles so replace it ASAP; unless you want to experience an over heating engine next spring. Been there done that my...

Re: Suppose you ran around on a falling tide

That looks like a Beneteau and I can't tell if it has wings at the bottom of the keel. Fin keel looks a bit too long for wings. Could be photoshopped or strange things can happen.

The keel on...

Re: Suppose you ran around on a falling tide

Well, if your boat happens to be a wing keel like an O'day 272 and the bottom is flat sand you just wait it out. The boat will sit just fine on the wings although it is a bit strange being on a boat...

Thank you Kevin Jones for checking in at sailnet.

Re: Doing Repairs the Hard Way

Boat was on a mooring 1/4 mile from shore on the Hudson River. Rig had also been taken off in prep for spending a winter ashore. Our mistake = not latching hatch closed prior to nasty blow.
