Re: Small boat takes more caution.

You were in a Laser, alone, in a blow, in february, in the middle of the night?

I think there is a lot more to discuss, before the size of the boat...

Re: Electric Propulsion, Anyone Using It?

I think that EP is perfect for a sailboat.
Silent (almost), low maintenance, simplicity and a lot of torque.
Current battery technology not so much :crying

Re: Sinking Feeling

What about the drain(s) from the cockpit, do you close them as well, when you leave the boat?

Re: Volvo Penta MD7a - Worn water passage

I'm lookin' forward to see what happens.
I have an MD7B (Basically same engine) from 1984.
So far no problem (it lived the last 30 years in fresh water) but I do worry...

Re: Our West Marine Debacle

Why do you even post on a forum about this, if this is your attitude against anyone who slightly disagrees with you?

Re: Deck hardware: OK to attach with screws only?

1. It must be bolted through with a backplate on the inside.

2. The backplate needs to be supported from below, otherwise the blocks will lift/deform the deck.

Re: 2-blade Flexofold Problems

1. CRAZY expensive?? I doubt it.

2.I think you don't need to explain much.

3. If you are norwegian, call the Danish main office, don't see much of a language barrier there.

Believe me spam...

Re: 2-blade Flexofold Problems

E-mail is not (anymore) a safe form of communcation.
I guess they never received it, due to spam-filtration. (not OP's fault, but the trouble with exentsive spamming).
Give 'em a call, I did, they...

Re: Lifespan of a Diesel Engine

It's a Volvo 120S drive. Don't think it has anything to do with that :)

Re: Lifespan of a Diesel Engine

Just looked in my Volvo Penta MD7B manual today.
It says nothing about running it at specific RPM's.
It did, however state that when sailing, one should start and run the engine for about 15...

Re: Thru hull and seacock installation

Where are they located?
Evaluate each location and find out if anything heavy can actually fall onto it while sailing. If not, I would not loose a seconds sleep over how they have been fitted...

Re: What is the best sailing movie ever?

Deep Water is my fave.
It's a true story and honestly tells about the challenges and beauty of ocean sailing.

Re: Volvo Ocean Race.

It might seem simple, but it's not.
The charts in these areas are raster-images, and therefore the plotter as such does not know the depth. It is just images.
It's not like a depth sounder, where...

Re: Pearons 28 passes Beneteau 46

Wow, this thing really escalated
We are all in different modes when we sail, and even in diffrent modes depending on the circumstances.
OP was probably in racing-mode at the time, the...

Re: Wet core in the hull - what are the options?

This thread is so predictable.
The usual suspects advising you to run away from a fast sinking boat. :)
Well that is always the "safe advice" but not very useful.
A lot of more information is...

Re: Boat Insurance Rant

With that kind of argument you will still be happy if you have to pay 10 times as much?

Insurance is a betting game, don't pay more than what is fair, unless you want to contribute to the bottom...
