It appear as though the company that provides our Chat feature recently updated their software and now one of their modules is being 'mis-classified' by Norton/Symantec and possible containing a virus. Until they have this resolved we have de-activaed chat. We've opened a support incident with Envolve and they will hopefully have this corrected soon.

Re: Getting sanitation hose over fittings
I redid my waste system last year with that awful white sanitation hose. I found that hose lube and cursing worked best. I saved a 2' piece of the hose so if I ever run across the inventor I can beat...

I've always been attracted to the PSC Dana 24. I'd be curious what you folks think about that boat for ocean passages and Caribbean island hopping.

Take a look at the Catalina 27. They're everywhere, roomy for a 27, sail well and are easy to sell later.

Re: Beneteau vs. Catalina - seeking advice / opinions
I can't speak to the Beneteau, but I've had either a 1986 or current 1991 Cat 36 for the past 26 years. You will probably not lose any money over the next 5 years with either. You will enjoy the...

Re: Is Sailing an Elitist Sport?
I think the public in general DOES consider sailing or power boating to be elitist. I'm always amused when I tell clients that I'm writing reports on the boat today and they give me the "Oh, on the...

Ha Ha, me too. This thread's been making me get out the 42 brochures again, sure would like that forward cabin. The only threads you ever read here about Catalinas is how they melt in salt water....

Curious what the range is for that. In doing MOB drills, the boat really moves away from the MOB quickly. FWIW, when alone I wear an inflatable PFD AND a belt-pak inflatable PFD just in case. On the...

I'm a 10-15 knot kinda guy. If I'm coming back from Catalina and get stuck in windier stuff, I handle it but I don't enjoy it as much. If it's blowing 20+ before I leave the slip, I'm more likely to...

I would judge each boat on it's merits without regard to it's age. If a boat has been well maintained, an older boat could have a newer "effective age" than a poorly maintained newer boat. If you...
