Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

I made my own on my previous boat, used no shock cord though as I didn't want to replace it every year. It was adjustable and stowable, completely out of the way until it came to dropping the sail,...

Re: Just bought my first boat

Hope it all works out, and don't worry about the boat discussions, you have a boat which is better than a ton of people, heck even a Mac26 is better than nothing ;)

I sail alone, partly through choice, partly because no-one will go out with me :)

Re: Your opinion about touch screens

An electric car window is also operated by a button, which you can easily feel without having to look at it, I don't see many vehicles where opening a window involves staring at a screen and trying...

re: Your opinion about touch screens

Touch is fine if you only sail in smooth sea and fair weather. Given your (and my) location, you wouldn't be sailing much if you always waited for those conditions. I'm a button fan, you can get...

Re: Why are wheels so big?

My wheel is only 20", it's a bit too small IMO, I'd prefer 24", those couple of extra inches would make it just a touch more comfortable to steer from the windward coaming without significantly...

Re: New, Scared, Excited, and in love with the the Idea

Re: Fall sailing! Brrr

I was out sailing today, lovely, blue skies, little bit chilly but a nice nor-easterly. Lots of other boats out with the same idea.

Re: Interesting Sail plan...and boat

300hp? Really? 300hp? I assume those big grey bits hanging down from the TV antennae are fly screens.
It's not a bad looking concept in terms of hull/cabin, but it doesn't look like it'll sail for...

West Marine pulling out of Canada

Apparently they are closing all but their Toronto stores, like them or loathe them, you have to admit that for those living within reach of one, they are convenient.

Re: Yanmar 3GMD unburnt fuel/ black smoke/ Exhaust

So no air filter? Have you sucked something up and partially blocking the intake?

Re: Yanmar 3GMD unburnt fuel/ black smoke/ Exhaust

Black smoke is fuel not getting burnt properly (bad fuel/air ratio), not necessarily too much fuel, it could equally be not enough air getting in, a blockage in the exhaust system, or there is now...

Re: Injection pump too short?

Well, more digging and chat with an injection specialist. Turns out that the injector firing is nothing to do with timing the engine, but also the rail slider thing on the pump has to be in the...
