Tayana 42 or PS 37

Been boat shopping, found two that speak to me- an 84 Tayana Vancouver 42 and a 87 PS 37. Yes, I know they're totally different boats, but I'm looking for an off shore capable cruiser that the...

Re: Tayana 37: Coamings cut off - is this repairable?

On the positive side - this is the kind of boat I dream of, the price is pretty low (I think he understands the mess and subsequently dropped his price pretty low) and the boat is on the same lake I...

Tayana 37: Coamings cut off - is this repairable?

Looked at a Tayana 37 today. The current owner, in an attempt to fix a leak that according to him most Tayana's suffer from, cut off both cockpit coamings flush with the deck. This removed the...

A Ketch into a Cutter...or not

The Admiral is not scoffing anymore anytime I'm talking about "upgrading", even starting to join in looking at options....

I've always been partial to the Bayfields or Cabo Rico's, but as it...

Another one here that paid asking price.
As said before, you offer what the boat is worth to you. Fair value!
In my case the seller set his price, it was at my budget, and so the only thing that...

Hi

I have an F26, which after meeting up with something solid underwater ended up with a broken table when my son used it to stop his headlong rush down the entranceway. I ended up building a new...

Re: West Marine makes enemies

Here's my issue with WM.
I hate losing money, but I also hate online shopping. Typically when I need something for the boat, it is needed now - not in a week, not hopefully the right thing.
I also...

Re: Hauled the boat - What's this on my keel?

Hi Paul

Isn't that the exact reason to put on an epoxy barrier coat? - Preventing future osmotic blister problems.

I dont have a major problem (other boats in the yard with 1000's of small...

Thanks for the reminder on the "still sticky" barrier paint.

With regards the very uniform mark on the keel - no, thats not paint lifting. I'l cleen that area today with a wire brush, but it...

Re: Hauled the boat - What's this on my keel?

Thanks C-witch.
That's what I intend to do as well. Got enough to put on 3 coats of the barrier epoxy and two of the hard anti fouling paint.
My boat lives in fresh water - I hope to be "good" for...

Hauled the boat - What's this on my keel?

I hauled my 1986 Bene F26 on Thursday for a bottom painting job.
I noticed something on my keel (I believe steel) that I don't know what it is. See photo
This looks like a welding ridge on the keel...

Blister repair without drying the hull - EpoxyUSA "Bliscoat" system

Lots of prepping for the complete gamut of bottom...

Re: Electronics/instruments for lake sailing?

As a fellow lake sailor here (Lanier in GA) you definitely need a depth meter.
In addition, for maps Navionics has a very nice app that for about $10 gives you navigation maps for all US lakes.

Welcome to Lanier

I'm also sailing on Lanier. Awesome sailing - especially now that we've got water in the lake again :-)
Lots of sailboats on the lake, but also tons of stinkboaters :-)
Lanier gets very busy...
