Re: Marine head won't pump

I didn't actually put the papers towels myself in the head. Probably the kids.

Anyway, I recommend a heat gun or hair dryer on those sanitation hoses. Then they come off easily.

Re: Marine head won't pump

Well the heat gun did work well and in a couple minutes I found the blockage: two paper towels like a cork in a 90 degree elbow. Think the elbow isn't a good idea, but certainly not paper towels! ...

Re: Marine head won't pump

Thanks everyone, for the suggestions. I especially like the pump out/salt water in trick as it might avoid actually facing the offending material!

Will post update, for the record.

Re: Need new sails, but where to start?

Wow, good tips here. The boltrope adjustment is something I'll look into right away. If that can be adjusted I'll look for a newer genny. It is a masthead rig, so maybe the headsails are more...

Need new sails, but where to start?

I have a 30' S2, 1984. It's in good shape, but after my
first season, a little cruising, some club racing, and a bunch of
day sails on Narragansett Bay, I'm realizing I need new sails. The...

Re: Frustration unable to beat against steady wind & current Narr Bay

So many helpful suggestions here, thank you all. It probably was less than 3 kt current, but strong headwinds from our destination.

It is an S2 9.2A, and I guess sailing upwind is not her forte...

Re: asa school vs buying own 20-30ft and teach self?

I was in a similar position, thinking of buying a boat and getting people to go out with me to learn, and through books, etc. I ended up taking ASA 103 (I had to to a 101 test first to 'place'...

Re: Narragansett Bay boat launches?

I'm familiar with that ramp, but haven't launched a boat there. Does not look steep, and the cove is a nice place to launch, although maybe busy in the summer. There's parking within about 25...

Re: S2 9.2A questions

A follow up to this. I wrote that the boat came with 150 and 110 headsails. But it's a 150 and 135. My question is, does furling a 135 Genoa work as well as a smaller sail like a 100? Should I...
