Re: looking for past or present owners of 1970 through 73 cal 27s

Re: your spreaders.
It is my understanding (and I may be misinformed) that the OE spreaders on my '76 cal 2-27 were made of spruce. There is also an older Cal 30-something with the same style...

Re: Cal 2-27 mast step question

I'm still hoping to get it back in the water by the end of May but time is eating my lunch. Mid June is looking more realistic. I'm catching up on some "deferred maintenance" issues on the engine. It...

Re: How big a holding tank vs. camping

The bubble head branch of uncle Sam's canoe club always has funny stories about blowing san tanks( not what we called it). My 1st boat we had a RM1 that managed to blow sans back into the galley...

Re: Cal 2-27 mast step question

Scratchee, I appreciate your reply. I'd come to pretty much the same concluson you did with out the added frustration of pulling the step. :)

Hey, since I've got another 2-27 owner on the hook......

Re: Maiden Voyage Newbie Trainwreck

It was only the 3rd time I'd been able to get her on a boat in 31 years of marriage. I was a little afraid I'd screwed the pooch with that manuever. She still sails with me but she prefers the light...

Re: Maiden Voyage Newbie Trainwreck

Re: "The 2 happiest days of a boatowners life are..."

I bought my 1st sailboat last May. I bought my 2nd last month. I was at the marina rigging my Macgregor getting ready to put it up for sale when the guy I bought the Cal 2-27 from came over to visit....

Re: Sailing By Way of Power Boating

Been there, done that.
We had smaller power boats on lakes when I was a kid so the most basics of boat handling came from that. Then Uncle Sam's underwater canoe club added rules of the road,...

Re: Senior moments .. what's yours?

Even at the tender age of 51 I find myself thinking about the hereafter more and more.

I walk into a room and stop and think, what the heck am I here after.

Re: The compass ... old hat?

I sail on a lake. I've been boating on this lake since I was a kid. Barring a sudden pea soup fog I don't think I could get lost on it if I tried. On my lake about the best use for a compass would be...

Re: Cal 2-27 mast step question

I'm ging to have to do some measuring inside and out to be sure but I'm thinking the fasteners wouldn't line up with the compression post. On my boat the post is esentially a 2"X6" post.

Re: What stops Americans cruising the world?

There's the problem, Don't you know that in the US all taxi drivers are immigrants? :)

I had the pleasure of several (government sponsored) ocean voyages to the Med and northern Europe (pre- EU...

Cal 2-27 mast step question

While my "new to me" '76 Cal 2-27 is on the trailer with the mast down I'm looking to put a plate under the step so that when I get around to running halyards aft I'll have someplace to put some...

Re: Greetings

I'll be puting my Macgregor 26S up for sale in a week or so, got to clean it out and get all my stuff out of it. One of my complains with the Macgregor was the lack of storage, I've piled all my...

Re: Greetings

As of about 1100 CST I now own 2 boats. My "old" '94 Macgregor 26S and my "new" Cal 2-27. I'd post pics but I don't have the post count for the site to allow it yet.

Re: Greetings

Yeah that hard water stuff is a real downer. Even here in Oklahoma we are afflicted with it this year. According to the marina manager there is 8"-9" of ice in our marina and the lake is frozen over,...

Since then I bought my first boat in...
