I used New England ropes VPC for halyards on my last boat and strongly preferred it to the Sta-Set-X I have on my current. The VPC was far less stiff and much more "winchable".

if I may add, regarding the op avoid the extremes of going huge overweight will become a nuissance and you will do yourself a disservice...

I have a 33amp hour battery for a wheelchair (23lbs) and a 30lbs thrust trolling motor that pushes my 10ft dinghy along just fine for 2hrs.

we have an ap on our android called Currents. Gives a lot of info on state of the current in many places. We cruise the entire east coast so we're always in someplace different. The ap makes it...
