Oh I gotcha... Like a sleeve. So when I replace my mooring line I just pass the line through the center of the firehose and then tie a loop.

This is a permanent mooring, and the loops are for ease of tying up. As some of you have mentioned the chafe is caused from the loop rotating around the cleat base.

HAHAHA Yeah I know who would have thought ;)

But like Minnewaska said the stern line prevents the boat from swinging too far so the anchor does't get those side loads like it would if the boat...

We are at the mouth of the St John's river so it is pretty nasty by the time the water gets up to us. I would not eat anything out of this river. Are barnacles the same thing as oysters?

I am pretty sure the hull is solid but I am not positive. I went ahead and got another fish finder and when i get a chance I will do the plastic bag of water install and see what location is best.
