It appear as though the company that provides our Chat feature recently updated their software and now one of their modules is being 'mis-classified' by Norton/Symantec and possible containing a virus. Until they have this resolved we have de-activaed chat. We've opened a support incident with Envolve and they will hopefully have this corrected soon.

Nova Scotia currents
I live in Halifax area - don't sail outside of the harbor much (yet), but I don't believe tidal currents are an issue.
To my understanding tidal currents are caused by large amounts of tidal water...

Now THIS is an interesting sailboat. (TED video)
First thought to me - why even bother having it as a keel?
You could easily have a weighted ballast that could slide out over the rail. None of the drag in the water. Extend the mass out as far as...

Local boat buying assistance
After extensive online research and climbing around a local boat I'm hoping I can find someone in the Long Island NY area.
I'd like to get an opinion on a C&C 30 that is in Greenport NY
Thanks...

C&C 30 interior question
Yes, getting in the boats is the only way to really get a feel for the size.
Looking at diagrams with no reference is difficult. That said, the 29Mk2 looks to be noticeably smaller in the v-berth...

C&C 30 interior question
Hi,
I'm looking at moving up to a bigger boat (currently own a Mirage 24 - which is small when I have my 4 kids out for anything more than an afternoon)
I have been looking at C&C 29's and 30's...

C&C 29 - Mark 1 vs 2
To update the discussion.
The C&C 29 Mk 1 that I was trying to see is off the market. No responses from seller when I was asking to see the boat.
I'm guessing it sold.
I'm sitting back a bit...

C&C 29 - Mark 1 vs 2
Sailingfool,
I see your point. But having looked at the 30' it has one less bunk.
With 4 kids the extra bunk in the 29 actually works better for me.
Plus also about availability and price. Nice...

C&C 29 - Mark 1 vs 2
Sandusky,
Thanks for the insight. That's exactly the type of info I was looking for. I'll watch for the failure points.
If the condition is comparable then the Mk1 I'm looking at is a great deal...

C&C 29 - Mark 1 vs 2
Further to my earlier post about comparing boats - I'm looking at a couple local C&C 29's.
One is a 1983 Mark 2
The other is a 1979 Mark 1
The asking price is significantly lower for the Mk 1....

What's with the slime??
Further to that - how long do the bottom paints last?
My boat will have max 5 mo in the water/yr - does that mean the ablative paint will last 2 seasons?
Or is it just dependent on my area?
Mark

Good sail tonight.
Made a point of keeping some tension on the reefing line as I pulled out the jib.
Was able to hand furl the job at the end. Still stiffer than I'd like - but to bad.
I'll...

I believe the top swivel is turning easily.
I can turn the sail by hand fairly easily and there is no twisting when it does furl.
But I'll check tomorrow - make sure
