Re: Is the Newport 27' a suitable liveaboard for a small family?

More than length look at displacement and for live aboard the layout.
More modern boats will have more space inside but generally less storage. With a child for full time live aboard I think 27...

Re: Battery Acid!

I personally think his current action is good enough. He understands that he has likely shortened the life of the battery a great deal. I kind of agree with him that for a $100 (since he has minimal...

Re: $3500 inexpensive bluewater cruiser

Well the price is now 9,400. Perhaps it was a bit of a typo? I know my friend's father sold the Catalina 30 I learned how to sail keel boats on last summer for $2,400 had a bit of moisture in the...

Re: Moisture on Boats

Really depends on the boat. If it has a solid core and it is localized it could be blisters or de-lamination. If it is cored it could be we core. If you are going to pay someone to fix blisters or...

Re: Humidity smell

Good run down. I have a question about the one penny spray do you use real TSP or is the TSP commonly sold as phosphate free TSP as good? I know some places the real stuff can be very hard to find,...

Re: micro Jump Starters - anyone tried them on your boat?

If it uses Lithium cells it might not be very good, as they do not like heat. Boats, especially some of the lockers with little ventilation get quite hot. I worry about laptop batteries as they can...

Re: New to Sailing

Size is relative as well based on where and who you are. If you are in an area that has cold water you will want to learn on a small keel boat as you will stay dryer. Also age and physical condition...

Re: Islander 36 projects in paradise!!!!!

From my understanding of the way it works down there I imagine they have no insurance what are the chances they will make good on the damage? Suck for sure even if they do the right thing and have...

Re: Sail Drives?

This is what dooms them for me, no parts, no support, and generally poor design to begin with.

And as far as not having a stuffing box, well I would rather have a leaking, mostly filled two inch...

Re: Humidity smell

Well there is really only one solution is to find the source of the moisture. If it is just from normal living on board, then you need to set up some solar vents to get the air moving and fresh air...
