Re: Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

Thank you for the input. My point was to get some, and provoke thought. I'm just dissatisfied with bottom maintenance a routine.

Re: Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

It's not an answer, just an alternative, maybe a better one.
I was just introduce to the product being used on large surfaces and wondered if this would work. The ease of applying and removal was...

Re: Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

I agree your concerns are valid. But doesn't the abrasion cause the same risk for paint?

Re: Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

This product is being used to temporarily paint cars. There are several utube videos where it's being sprayed on. (For those of you who think it diffult to dip your boat)
For me, there is something...

Re: Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

Yes, figured it out.
I'm dismayed that an idea prokes nothing but instant dismissal. At 57, I try and keep my mind open to there still being a better way. Surely there must be great security in...

Re: Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

Okay...I get it. but don't burn me at the stake for offering an idea. Remember, the sailing community once believed the world was flat.

Re: Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

I'm just wondering if it is used, and peeled off when fouled, would that be an alternative to bottom paint.

Plasti Dip as a bottom paint

Has anyone tried the product Plasti Dip as a bottom paint? Take a look at this and let me know what you think. It looks like a good answer to a problem.

Re: Exp. Crew or Capt. Wanted for W. Palm to Rhode Isl

I once crewed for "boat owner" who underestimated time and provisions. It was not pretty. 6 to 7 days is not reasonable unless the boat is on a trailer traveling I-95.

Re: Crew Wanted - Southport, NC Daysailing

You didn't call.
I'll be going out today on my own boat, I find the captain a little more reliable there.

I live in Southport. I would be interested in sailing with you. I've sailed and currently have a boat at Indigo Marina.

Re: Buying a Cruiser

Funny to think that worry would set in at the 99 mile mark. I'm most scared from the slip to the last channel marker.

Re: Sailing the Hudson River NY

I just traveled the Hudson back in Sept. you are in for a nice trip. Of course the key is to go with the flow, but it is a beautiful ride passing many historic sites. I was fortunate to be with...

Re: Do I Need an EPIRB?

The ocean doesn't like me. It allows me passage at my own risk. I choose to wear a pfd that has a harness and have a PLB attached so that regardless of how a boat is equipped, I have some means of...

Re: Crew, Captain and Owner Feedback

WTG rockdawg, I tried to pay my son to write a recommendation that was half as good as the one you just got, he said "dad, you can't afford it".

Re: Captain Wanted - Short Delivery Apr 13

He specified wanting an outside passage.....I had this kind of confidence when I was young. Now, I understand big ocean, little boat and the ocean doesn't care that I want to live.

Re: Captain Wanted - Short Delivery Apr 13

The trip is in April, it should be warm enough, but the water will still be cold. I was cold once....Korea 1978.

Re: Captain Wanted - Short Delivery Apr 13

To be real honest with you, I don't think your boat has the needed equipment for the trip. There is no mention of navigation equipment, no sign of dingy or life raft, and I know there aren't exposure...

Re: Boy killed by lightning in our anchorage, what would you do?

Lightning kills as it passes thru critical tissue, ie the heart and vital organs, fortunately because of its high frequency it is more likely to flash over the body, verses entering and exiting. Many...
