Sorry, but that does not look like a forty foot boat to me. 29-30 feet, perhaps.

Has anyone seen the viagra commercial with the guy in the sailboat? What kind of boat is that? It has beautiful lines. I'll take two.

Wow. I visit here less often than I used to, and I haven't logged in since 12/9/10, and there have been 23,772 posts since then. Don't any of you have jobs?

I'll get back into it
I foresee getting a small, low maintenance (by boat standards) day sailor sometime in the future. No cabin, no amenities of any kind, just a boat (with keel - I'm lazy), sails, and maybe a small...

I'm done (for now)
I announced in this space in the fall of 2008 that we had bought a power boat because no one else in the family got into sailing. The sailboat would have to be sold. Fine. Then it appeared that I...

No need for a rebuild yet
Mine is only five years old this year, and shouldn't need a rebuild. It was part of a repower in 2005, and is part of a system that includes a flexible coupler. It works great.

I did it
It was tough, but I pulled through. In a truly heroic effort, I managed to fix the leak. After hours of research, and with no help from long descriptions or pictures or pointers from anyone here, I...

I'm beginning to get it
Thanks again, Maine Sail. I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I am beginning to catch on. I'll have to take a fresh look at my setup this weekend. I didn't install the system, so I don't know it...

Thanks for all the help
Yes, the hose clamps are tight. I don't believe that is an issue, although I will give them another tweak this weekend. I'm also going to check for debris between the bellows and the metal. I don't...

One more thing
Erps,
You said that "too little pressure" in one place can cause a leak. If that is the problem, how would one go about adjusting it? I don't see any reference to that on the PYI web site.

Thanks, guys
The system was only installed five years ago, so I don't think it is due to have the bellows replaced. The leak is at the forward end where the bellows meets the stainless steel collar. I tightened...

PYI dripless seal leaking
My dripless shaft seal is leaking at the point where the rubber ends and meets the shaft. I can grab that point and shake it and make the leak either worse or better. How can that happen? Is there...

Careful with that one
I sailed on rented American boats at my marina before I bought my first one, and while there is nothing really wrong with them, they are a little flimsy and a little boring. If you really use it...

Thanks for all the responses. Everyone seems to be saying pretty much the same thing: the buyer pays all survey related expenses. My boat is approximately two hours from the nearest hauling...

Survey etiquette
This may have been covered somewhere, but I didn't stumble across it doing a search.
What is the correct etiquette for getting a survey done when selling a boat? I know that the buyer has to pay...

I have to agree that if you get a simple boat and keep it simple you'll end up spending a lot less money. It also appears to me that many of the prices paid in the first post are very high. You can...

Eastern shore
Harbor Sales on Eastern Shore has what you need. That's where I got mine, and they have a huge selection. I don't have the contact info in front of me, but they have a web site.

I think you are going to have to make some choices to narrow the selection down a bit. I can't tell which way you are leaning, but if you want to seat six and use it as a day sailor, you may have to...

Once set on the pier, I never un-tie the lines. When I leave my slip, I slip the lines on the boat and throw them on the pier. I won't touch the lines on the pier cleats until the next time I take...

I have extra fenders on board that I can drop over the side and hang from the toe rail (with a knot) at a moment's notice. And that is one of the good things about my nearly devoid of service...

On the pier
I hang my fenders on the pier. It keeps them out of the way, and I don't have to mess with them underway. Why aren't you all as smart as me?

A little experience
I have sailed quite a bit in Americans. They are OK -nothing special. They are not particularly sturdy, so you have to take very good care of them. They are simple, so there is not too much to do. ...
