Re: What are the pros/cons of the Max Prop

If one is having issues getting a max to fold per say, one must be over 3 knots or so when you shut the motor off, or the ability to sail at over 3 knots. putting the gear **** is reverse after...

Re: Pros and cons of steel sailboats

Re: Mainsail?

I actually have to really GREAT sails in that the main and 155 are strings! So a bit better than the CAL material. BUT, bang for buck, the CAL is hard to beat.

You're a bit heavier as I recall,...

Re: Sea Delivery from SFO to PNW how feasible?

Jim,

The issue from what I can see, not having done this, is safe marina's are few and far between up the left coast vs the right coast. If you are under 65', from what I can tell, one can motor...

Re: foam backed vinyl -- ok to use? glue?

Either a spray or brush on contact cement will work just fine. That is what I used when I redid ALL of my interior on my Jeanneau.

One thing I will suggest....if you have flat area's, or areas...

Re: What would you do you are off Hatteras ?

Someone is worried about a 50-60+ foot boat in 30-40 knot winds? Going with the wind no less!?!?!?! Some folks would have a chute up planing in the 20+ knot range! Could be fun in my 30' boat...

Not that I mod on here, but time to delete the OLD bickering and continue with what the thread should be about, sailing up the west/left coast of the US, be it good or bad.......

Just a person...

Re: Gennaker that is undersized - dangerous?

The ONLY thing dangerous about it, you might get a grin going down wind, so since boat is about the same as yours too, how about if I take it off your hands, I'll raise the ante by paying...

Re: Anchoring without chain

Chuck,

I would agree that MOST of us will use some amount of chain on the anchor. How much, size, that certainly is debatable, has been, will be etc from now until eternity.

Depending upon...

Re: Anchoring without chain

Chuck,

THe OTHER thing you need to look at, if I am reading the OPs question correctly, a kedge is NOT what I would call a permanent anchor if you will, ie it is a way to pull you off of a ledge...

Re: Anchoring without chain

John,

Glad I am not as screwed up as I thought. For a Kedge, a rope only is probably how most of us would go.

I can see a danforth style as they are light, lots of surface area to grab once...
