Re: Questions RE: Installing Interior 12v LED Light Strips

Are these what you mean by "resistive controlled"? They appear to have resistors built in to the strip. Are they the so called "cheap ones that catch fire"?...

Gel-like substance leaching from teak after oiling

Working on a 78 Newport 30 and all of the teak in the cockpit looked like it hadn't been touched for years. Dry as a bone with no signs of varnish and grey. We sanded it down and applied teak oil and...

Hello all...

Recently picked up a 78' Newport 30 with an MD7A. It's the fist diesel I've dealt with and it would be helpful if I could be pointed to some how-to's on general maintenance. I.E....

Re: 4 yr old diesel, how screwed am I?

So I'm thinking of going with the filter change and carrying extras

What about topping off the tank? Would that help or would it be better to let it run in the slip or on calm water, to burn...

Re: 4 yr old diesel, how screwed am I?

The boat was a lien sale, so it was purchased direct from the marina and I've have no idea the last time the owner was aboard. That said, based on everything the previous owner left behind and all...

4 yr old diesel, how screwed am I?

I'm currently working on a 1978 Newport 30 that, as far as I know, it has sat since 2008. The engine has been run a few times, and every time it started right up and ran fine, that's the good part....

Re: Thinned gelcoat repair- What are the options?

My apologies, yes, I am referring to the deck. It's been 10 years since I've owned a boat and I've forgotten a lot of the terminology.

Paying someone to do it sounds really expensive, I'm looking...

Re: Thinned gelcoat repair- What are the options?

Good questions, I'm referring to topside such as the settee hatch covers. 40+ years of butts sitting on them have worn through the gelcoat. Also on the foredeck; not sure if it's from sails and...

Hello all,

I'm currently working on a 78 Newport 30, the boat has sat since 2008 with no work, but the previous owner was pretty meticulous and it's in pretty good condition. However, all the wood...
