Re: 1 rescued, 1 dead, 4 missing in Mobile Bay Regatta

Re: 1 rescued, 1 dead, 4 missing in Mobile Bay Regatta

As nearly as I can tell from looking at archives from Sailflow and NWS radar, there was a half hour between a REALLY UGLY bow echo radar image and the time the big air hit the boats (racers and...

Re: Need Help with Neglected Boat

Many sailors just do not get the concept that some boats have a
really appreciable negative value - they are worth MUCH LESS THAN NOTHING.
You can invest thousands of hours and $ in them an STILL...

Re: Canadian Boats Selling in USA

Our club welcomes Canadians, and 26 of them died in the towers, by Jingo!!
So yeah, just to make up for it, we murdered 100,000 plus Iraqis who
had nada to do with it.

Re: a bit of friday humour

As I was passing by, sort of like ships in the night - as it were,
I could not help but notice that you used this properly . .
". . flouting the rules."
Gringos use "flaunting" all the time. ...

Re: Greatest fear?

Not being able to sail that much longer - just turned 70.
[But we have two folks in our Club who are in their 90's and still sailing. I just love to watch them do it.]

Re: Would anyone like a free wooden sloop?

Why no, I would not want a free wooden boat.
I sail a 1980's plastic boat (S2 7.9) and can keep up with the maintainence and still have time for sailing.
I'm also working on the Vets For Peace...

Re: Quick Advice: Donating a boat ride for charity

In response to the sort or legalism that we see above, many states enacted "Good Samaratin" laws that offer very good protection to unpaid volunteers.
Hey Travlin - can you provide a link to the...

Re: Salt water, Fresh water?

Standing rigging will generally last MUCH longer in fresh water, but you still need to check it carefully. There are fresh water boats out there with 20 year old rigging - and that is pushing it too...

re: How old is too old and how cheap too cheap
